This is for all fellow parents ππ»
As 2025 comes to a close and I'm seeing many posts on what others have achieved, it suddenly dawned upon me that I haven't actually achieved much this year π€ No promotions, no titles or any other impressive wins that are typically viewed as achievements.
But I have been soooo busy! Busy being a parent to bb1, preparing her milk feeds, packing her school bag, reading her books, cleaning up after her meals, arranging playdates and caring for her emotional needs. On top of that, I gotta deal with the mental load & decision fatigue involved in raising a kid, such as when to up her diaper size, does she need new shoes, how to transit her to UHT milk, when to start toilet training etc. All these seemingly insignificant little things add up to the daily buzz happening in my mind ~
For bb2, I have also been so busy while being pregnant. Busy keeping track of the medical appointments, busy remembering my daily supplements, busy checking what food/products to avoid during pregnancy, busy preparing the nursery, busy researching on JB confinement centers and worrying about how things would change after her arrival.
But none of these sound significant enough to be declared in a "2025 achievement post", you know what I mean? Reflecting on this season of life as a parent, it's kindda strange that the hardest and most meaningful work is largely unrecognised because it doesnβt come with a title, promotion, or applause.
To all parents who might be feeling the same, let's end off 2025 feeling proud of ourselves for being present, putting in our time, energy and effort into building a family even if it doesnβt fit neatly into a resume. Being a parent who shows up day after day despite the exhaustion is probably the greatest achievement ever ππ»
Here's to an even more challenging year ahead navigating the ever growing demands of parenthood, but no doubt that watching our kids grow up and experiencing life alongside them through all the different stages is such a blessing β€οΈ
