PERMEABILITY HOUSED by Tangu Architecture Sdn Bhd

Within a closed-knitted community, lies this east-fronting house that had been renovated incongruently over the years. It has now been transformed into a progressive test bed for design innovation, research & development, and trial of ideas and principles continuously developed by the practice. The approach stems from a minimalistic standpoint that “lightness” - of building footprint, carbon footprint, weight, construction/ materials & logistics, embedded energy - applied through well considered design of the spatial configuration, envelope and form, coupled with the principles of “permeability” of the elements brings forth holistic sustainable solutions.

House No. 36

The House No.36 is a modern Net Zero energy home with 20kWp of solar PV set in the midst of metro Kuala Lumpur. The surrounding neighbourhood is fully developed with generally large vernacular 2 to 3 storey bungalows. The brief required a house for a two generational family with generous open living spaces to entertain guests and private rooms with resort facilities customised to each family member’s requirements and also green sustainable features. The site comprised a long and narrow lot sloping down from the road. Designed by DTLM Architect
