Working Of a Solar Water Heater

The Sun’s rays fall on the collector panel (a component of solar water heating system). A black absorbing surface (absorber) inside the collectors absorbs solar radiation and transfers the heat energy to water flowing through it. Heated water is collected in a tank which is insulated to prevent heat loss. Circulation of water from the tank through the collectors and back to the tank continues automatically due to thermosiphon system. Based on the collector system, solar water heaters can be of two types: A solar water heater consists of a collector to collect solar energy and an insulated storage tank to store hot water. The stored hot water can be used later any time.

Is solar water heating save for money?
Solar water heating systems cost more to purchase and install than conventional water heating systems. However, a solar water heater can usually save you money in the long run.
How much money you save depends on the following:
The amount of hot water you use
Your system's performance
Your geographic location and solar resource
Available financing and incentives
The cost of conventional fuels that your conventional water heater would otherwise use (natural gas, oil, or electricity)
On average, if you install a solar water heater, your water heating bills should drop 40%–60%. Also, because the sun is free, you're protected from future fuel shortages and price hikes.
If you're building a new home, Including the piping price usually amounts to between Rm 12,000.00 and Rm 15,000.00. So if your electricity savings are more than Rm 150.00 and Rm 300.00 per month, the solar investment is profitable immediately.
