Serissa Japonica, a native to open woodlands and wet meadows in southeast Asia. The genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. With a rare variety with cream-colored tips on each of green leaves commonly known as the snowrose, Tree of a Thousand Stars.

The Serissa’s Wood element symbolizes growth and transformation, ultimately nurturing resilience, adaptation, and personal growth. Its Chi, ‘Zhen,’ stands for constancy and stability, with a strong power to cultivate an environment of strength and protection against negative energy.

Eyelash fern

With its fan-shaped fronds that look exactly like eyelashes, the stunning Eyelash Fern is a plant that packs a tonne of personality into a tiny package. Its scientific name, Actiniopteris australis, is also rather fitting, with “actini” referring to radiant energy and “pteris” translating to fern/feathery. Terrarium Origins

The use of transparent containers for growing plants dates back at least 2,500 years in Greece. In the United States, terrarium culture is believed to have originated in New England, where housewives placed squawberry (partridge berry) plants in handblown glass bowls.
The invention of the terrarium as we know it is credited to Dr. N.B. Ward, a 19th-century London physician. A plant enthusiast, Ward was interested in growing many types of ferns in his backyard but had not been successful. While studying a sphinx moth emerging from a chrysalis he had buried in moist earth in a closed bottle, he was amazed to see a seedling fern and some grass growing inside. He watched them grow for four years, during which time not one drop of water was added nor was the cover removed.
Ward continued his observations with other plants
in containers and, in 1842, published a book called On
the Growth of Plants in Closely Glazed Cases. This led
to development of “Wardian cases,” which were large, enclosed containers for growing delicate plants in the home or transporting precious plants over long distances. The terrariums most often used today are small ornamental versions of the Wardian case.

How do terrariums work?

They are indoor gardens in a sealed container. The plants and the soil in the terrarium release water v***r – essentially recycling water. The v***r is then collected onto the walls of the vessel and trickles down to the soil. Terrariums are self-nourishing, which is why they require little maintenance, if sealed.
