“Imagine a community that loves and have passion in the creation of new items/object surrounds University of Nottingham, where you can see all short of creative inventions/innovations around the campus.”
Nott’s Makers Club (NMC) was founded in the early February 2016 with a vision of cultivating a makers community that turns ideas into reality through learning, building and sharing. It provides a
platform for students from different backgrounds, department and schools to connect together in creation of an object/item/application that could bring changes and enhancement to the world and community. Typical interest to be nurtured through NMC includes engineering orientated pursuits such as 3D printing, electronics, robotics and the use of CNC tools (metalworking, woodworking). The distinct difference of NMC with other engineering societies will be its focus on the generation of ideas, where creativity will be pursued in arts, craft and solutions to a particular problem, and lastly, turning them into reality. The beauty of NMC is its culture in connecting students with strong technical skills with students who are filled with innovative ideas. For example, an engineering student who have strong technical background but lack of innovative ideas can have the opportunity to collaborate with business/science students who have little technical skills but great in generation of creative ideas. It’s a connection, a collaboration, and a relationship in the development of a project that leads to long-lasting impact on the Nottingham student experience.
