Medicinal Value of Clausena Anisata

The leaves and roots are taken for treating colds, rheumatism and arthritis

The leaves are analgesic, anthelmintic and antiseptic

A decoction is drunk to cure gastro-intestinal disorders, intestinal worms, fever, headache and sinusitis

Externally, they are crushed and applied to wounds, sprains, contusions, sores, burns and fractures

They are also used for treating toothache and other mouth infections

A root decoction is taken to control convulsions in children and as a tonic by pregnant women

Other Uses

Bundles of the plant are widely used as an insect repellent

The powdered root is known to be lethal to snails

The twigs are widely used for toothbrushes

The stems are used for walking sticks
