π A video recorder is a device designed for recording, storing and playing video information. It works according to the following principle: cameras are connected to the DVR and transmit video to it via cables. The recorder receives the signal, converts it into an image, compresses it and, if necessary, writes it to the hard disk. You can watch the video by connecting a TV or monitor to the DVR, as well as using a remote connection.
β‘ DVR stands for Digital Video Recorders. They allow you to record the footage that your CCTV security camera captures, allowing you to watch it back when you need to. In the case of a security threat, a DVR system will ensure youβve got security footage as proof.
β‘ NVR stands for Network Video Recorder. Unlike DVRs, NVRs receive video data already compressed over Ethernet. Data can be received from IP video cameras or from analog video cameras connected through special adapters. The peculiarity of NVRs is that they can work only with a limited list of models of IP video cameras, since at present the standardization of their network exchange interfaces is not yet widespread.
NVRs use IP cameras which are technologically advanced and have the power to actually record and store video footage on their own β with the help of an internet connection. DVR systems, on the other hand, use analogue cameras. They send unprocessed streamed footage through coaxial cables to a DVR β which then processes the video.
