ELECTRIC FENCE REGULATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL ESTATES.
Most electric fences installed in Nigeria are NOT compliant. And that could put lives, and your property at risk.
Here are some key requirements you should NEVER ignore:
⚡ Compliance & Certification
▪️ Only electric fences built to IEC 60335-2-76 (or equivalent) are permitted
▪️ All energizers must comply with EMC requirements under this standard
⚡Materials & Components
▪️ Only industry-approved insulators must be used
▪️ Materials must minimize galvanic corrosion between metals
⚡Earthing & Electrical Safety
▪️ Earthing must follow recognized industry standards
▪️ Only corrosion-resistant conductive materials should be used
⚡Human & Animal Safety
▪️ Systems must be installed to minimize risk to people and animals
▪️ Except in cases of unlawful intrusion
🚫 CRITICAL PROHIBITION
▪️ Barbed wire, razor wire, or any metallic fence must NOT be electrified. This is strictly prohibited
A non-compliant installation doesn’t just fail, it exposes you to serious safety and legal risks.
