1. Good Design must be DURABLE
Beauty matters, but durability matters more-with our climate you need to put into consideration heat, dust and power issues when choosing materials for fitting out your projects.
2. Clients don’t just want a beautiful space, they want peace of mind.
Clear communication is key, timelines and reassurance are just as important as the final finish of the project.
3. Budget Conversations are part of the design process.
Transparency saves relationships. Interior Design is a Luxury service and Luxury doesn’t come cheap. However, managing clients expectations early on in the briefing phase is key.
4. Sourcing is a SkILL you must perfect.
Knowing where and who to buy from both locally and internationally can make or break a project.
5. Details are Where the Clients appreciate the value.
The quality of materials used and the craftsmanship of the finishing is a non-negotiable. Things like handles, accessories, textures and the alignment and how they are installed- that is what makes a client say “This was worth it”
6. Delays will happen. Always!
Artisans, traffic, logistics and imports are not always 100% within our control. Flexibility and having a backup plan are part of being a true professional.
7. Your Pricing reflects your Experience & Confidence.
Underpricing attracts stress, not gratitude.
Cost overruns can easily drain your profit and remember we are in business to make profit.
8. A strong Project BRIEF saves everyone stress.
The clearer the vision at inception, the fewer misunderstandings later.
9. Documentation saves your sanity.
Contracts, approvals and written change requests, protects the business relationship between both parties.
10. Not every client is your client- and that’s okay
Alignment in values, budget, mutual respect and expectations preserves the business relationship and in turn makes for a successful project delivery.
