The Live tower construction has officially surpassed the 100m mark! 🏗️👷Upon completion, it will become Amsterdam’s new landmark and Tallest Residential Tower🔝
Together with the renovated Drive tower (former Dreeftoren), they form a harmonious ensemble that both strengthens the area’s skyline and contributes to the responsible urban densification strategy.

The Dreeftoren office building was originally built in 1991 by ZZOP Architecten (our predecessor). The original facade featured 3 crosses designed for the tower stability, which earned it its witty nickname - “Het Amsterdammertje” (roughly translated to “little Amsterdammer”).
The tower is currently undergoing a large renovation with full facade replacement that will give it more vertical articulation and give the building a new identity under its new name: The Drive Tower. Together with the newly built Live tower it will get a new life and add to the area’s densification and development. 🏗️

Project highlight: Toren 6
Fabricating the façade elements for Toren 6 was no easy task. Thanks to Byldis’ innovative approach, it resulted in a high-quality outcome! Today, we look back at the panel production process as we admire the final result. 👷
Did you know:
- Panel production required making a custom triangular-shaped timber framing
- The panels feature acoustic ventilation grilles that allow fresh air inside while simultaneously reducing noise from passing trains
- Each panel was delivered to the site as a readymade element, allowing for quick building assembly

Our residential tower Toren 6 has been featured in the February issue of Bouwwereld 📖 “Smart facade keeps railway noise out”
The article highlights the advanced technology behind prefabricated façade, the challenges of high noise levels in the area due to a nearby train station, and all the construction principles that helped reduce noise and ensure comfortable living conditions inside the apartments.

As we admire Scarlet in her full glory, let’s take a closer look at the details 👀♦️
The main façade features red brick, laid in a dynamic pattern that enhances the building’s vertical rhythm. The bricks are made from locally sourced clay in the northeast of Groningen and achieve their distinctive color through a carefully controlled engobe process in the kiln. Combined with black metal elements, they create a distinctive architectural identity for the tower.
