Office of architecture in Amsterdam. The office consists of the two partners, Alondra Paz Vargas and Johan Selbing.

Studio Selva is a young architecture office with experience in projects of very different scales and program, from housing areas to interior renovations, urban furniture, bridges and villa’s. Their designs often deal with sustainability, material experiments, contextual analysis and involvement from conceptual stage to project completion.

This renovation is a reinterpreted retro style defined by a sophisticated blend of textures and bold colour accents. The project is tied together by a sustainable Fusion poured floor, which provides a neutral background with a subtle marble effect. Key material choices include glass block partitions, long cabinets surfaced in oak veneer, and a sleek RVS kitchen island. The cabinet niche in Hague Blue N30 and switches in Oranje Vif from the Le Corbusier palette give striking color accents. Finally, the bathroom features tiles (colour: Flos and Ice) complemented by sophisticated Japanese tiles in navy blue that add a handcrafted feeling.

PERMANENT CONSTRUCTION ON A TEMPORARY SITE

Our largest project to date is now online! Early next year, 379 homes with a community space will be realized on one of the last empty plots in the center of Hilversum. Studio Selva was commissioned by Alliantie Ontwikkeling B.V. to create the design for this.

These are permanent modular homes, but on a temporary site. After 15 years, the two blocks can, as it were, be pulled apart and placed in eight different locations. A more compact design than usual was deliberately chosen to leave space for a new park for the neighborhood.

Bijzonder aan het ontwerp is dat de woningen zonder bouwkundige aanpassingen op een later moment uit elkaar gehaald en permanent neergezet kunnen worden als acht aparte woonblokken op verschillende plekken.
