The is a prime example of sustainable infrastructure in the Netherlands. Together with Paul de Ruiter Architects and Landschappartners, we focused on changing the stigma of car roads being the nuisance. Instead, with smart design solutions, the noise and pollution is minimized, and a new park above the tunnel is added to the city, increasing the Hague's biodiversity and providing a new green area for recreation.

The true character of a building takes form in the process of co-creation. For our client, this process meant: translating their life into an innovative design, which realizes the dream of how they want to live.

For this project in Amersfoort, we started with an empty plot.
We elevated the building to create a layer of privacy from the street and extend the green garden.
The roof shape is turned to give the best light/shade conditions while being a modern fit into a historical neighborhood.
The final step was creating a “skin” layer over the façade, to add both privacy and protection from the sun.

Architecture might not be the first word that comes to mind when talking about tunnels, but architectural solutions make it safer and more sustainable. Working on Rotterdamsebaan we used continuous lines as the basis for the design, aiming to create a clear routing.
This is integrated in the paneling and the lighting solution, guiding the drivers through the tunnel.
Outside, the modified lamp posts are a recognizable nod to the ships' masts from the nearby ports.
We are looking forward to experience this journey ourselves after the opening!
