Getting more light into the greenhouse in three steps!

During a large part of the year all of the sunlight can effectively be converted into production. Fortunately, there are increasingly more tools designed to minimise light losses in existing greenhouses. Together they can be put into a three-step plan.

When do you clean the greenhouse roof?
Let us know!

A crop rotation is a perfect opportunity for thoroughly cleaning the greenhouse. This is more than necessary during the present times when virus-related problems are on the increase. First, the greenhouse is emptied and all vegetation is removed. This is followed by alternating rounds of disinfection and cleaning. In addition to the inside, the outside of the greenhouse can also be cleaned, which is good for good light.

When is the best time to remove a coating? The answer to this question depends on the type of coating, the crop, its current status and the grower’s judgement. It’s a trade-off between the light loss caused by the coating and the benefits it offers, such as heat dissipation or diffusivity. The decision as to when to remove a coating is partly rational and partly depends on the weather and your green fingers.
