Today we had a site visit from the King’s Commissioner ahead of the official unveiling this Friday (May 29) of the restored monument in Stavenisse. An honour to briefly speak with him about the project and its significance.

This restoration was carried out together with Tobias Snoep of Snoep & Vermeer (Amsterdam). We were responsible for the dismantling, restoration and reinstallation of the monument, while Tobias handled the desalination treatment of the sculpture.

I was only a small part of this project for most of the time, working mainly on yacht interior touch ups, while my brother Tim carried much of the responsibility. We had planned to finish the final 5% together during Christmas 2025. Life unfolded differently, and in the end I had to complete that final part without him.

Bringing this project to completion demanded more from me mentally than I expected. Standing here today feels bittersweet — proud that the restoration is finished, but deeply aware that Tim cannot share this moment himself.

Friday’s unveiling will be for him too.

Small repair, big difference.
This TV cabinet surround on board had old impact damage. Filled, repaired, and refinished — bringing the woodwork back to a clean factory look. Small details make a big difference. ⚓️✨

Step by step.

A few weeks ago, we experienced a special and emotional moment. Together with my nephew Cas, we were able to place the monument of this tomb back where it belongs in Stavenisse — an important milestone in its restoration.

It meant even more to share this with family: Cas’s sister Merel, his mother Femke — the wife of my late brother Tim — and my own mother were all there.

Beneath the sculpture, we left a small time capsule: a prayer card of Tim, with a personal message from Cas — a lasting memory for the future.

The restoration of this monumental tomb is not yet fully complete, but we are nearing completion.

Grateful for everyone who contributed in their own way to make this possible.

A moment we will never forget.

Leaving a mark.
Beneath the monument in Stavenisse lies a new foundation—
and within it, the initials of my brother Tim, who carried this project.
Next week, the monument will return to rest on it.

First job abroad since my brother passed away, with whom I built this business.
Being away feels bittersweet — good to step out for a moment, while still feeling his absence in places we once would’ve shared.
Moving forward, one job at a time.

It is with great sadness that I share the news that my big brother, friend, and business partner Tim passed away unexpectedly on December 22 at the age of 51.

His passing has been a tremendous shock to all of us, and the reality of this loss continues to sink in with each passing day. Tim was always a source of strength and support to those around him, and especially to me. While the pain is profound, we are grateful for the many beautiful memories we can hold on to. With deep pride, we look back on a life that was rich, meaningful, and full of interest.

Above all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my big brother. Thank you for everything you were, for all that you gave, and for being such an important part of my life. I will carry you with me always.

On behalf of his family, I would like to sincerely thank everyone for the overwhelming support, kindness, and condolences we have received during this incredibly difficult time.

Just wrapped up a week working onboard in Barcelona, repairing and touching up marble surfaces. The weather had its moments, but luckily the work was indoors. A happy client, a unique experience, and a nice change from traditional restoration work. It’s exciting to operate in two very different worlds — heritage monuments and luxury yachts!
