Sea trials completed for the Ocean Explorer 85, MOSS 🌊

Following her successful launch, MOSS has now taken the next step: her sea trials. These first miles at sea mark the true moment where design, engineering and craftsmanship come together under real-world conditions.

The initial tests confirm exactly what she was built for — exceptional stability, precise and responsive handling, and remarkably smooth seakeeping. Essential qualities for a yacht designed to safely and comfortably undertake global expeditions.

Developed in close collaboration with her owner-captain and brought to life together with , MOSS continues to prove that purposeful design translates directly into performance on the water.

⚓️ We look forward to seeing her venture further offshore and begin the journeys she was created for.

The launch of the second Ocean Explorer 85, MOSS 🌊

Studio Delta is the naval architect in this project by Steeler Yachts. Developed in close collaboration with her owner-captain, MOSS is fully tailored for hands-on, long-distance cruising.

Built to CE-A standards and fully compliant with the Malta’s C*C 2024 flag requirements, she carries an unrestricted navigation notation — reflecting her true bluewater capabilities.

⚓️We are very much looking forward to seeing MOSS take to the seas and log her very first nautical miles.

Looking for a Tender to Fit Your Tender Bay?
At first glance, finding a suitable tender for your new build or refit project might seem easy. With so many options available on the market, surely one must meet your requirements?
In reality, many tenders don't quite fit the physical constraints of the tender bay or exceed the lifting capacity of the yacht’s existing cranes. This challenge has only grown in recent years, as owners increasingly prefer to store tenders fully protected from the harsh marine environment.

The Solution: A Custom-Built Tender
When off-the-shelf models don’t meet your needs, a custom tender designed specifically for your yacht becomes the ideal solution. Tailoring the design to the exact parameters of the tender bay ensures optimal use of space, seamless handling, and safe stowage. Key parameters typically include: overall length, storage height, weight, fuel type or storage (when relevant). Our team has designed and delivered multiple custom tenders based on these specific requirements.

Project Spotlight: Vanquish 32 Special Edition
One standout project was the Vanquish 32 Special Edition. The client required a high-performance tender for their large yacht, and Vanquish was selected to build it.
The challenge? As the photo shows, there was very limited headroom in the tender bay, along with a forward fashion plate that restricted usable space even further. Through close collaboration with the Vanquish yard and the yacht’s crew, we were able to develop a design that fit the geometry precisely.
Another technical hurdle was the crane system. Although each crane beam could handle half the weight of the tender, the combined lifting capacity exceeded what the yacht’s structure could safely support. Detailed engineering reviews and on-site monitoring ensured we stayed within all limits and delivered a successful, safe integration.
