It's a winner! 🎉 🏆

We are delighted to share that our masterplan 'L**h-Anger' was awarded 1st prize in the second competition phase for the Pfettenstraßen area in Landsberg am L**h | Bavaria | Germany!

Our project will bring human-scale into affordable housing, with 200+ homes prefabricated from bio-based materials, and arranged around a common space flowing through the site. Collective owner- and stewardship of land, as well as a participatory development process aim to create a connected and inclusive community, integrated into the local neighbourhood.

As one of 10 model sites, the project is part of the initiative 'Landstadt Bayern' by the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wohnen, Bau und Verkehr, aiming to create innovative blueprints for new housing models in rural municipalities. We are more than excited to contribute to this initiative, and are looking forward to working on this project together with the municipality Landsberg am L**h, Bayern Heim GmbH, and the Freistaat Bayern.

We want to thank Monika Beltinger and Dorothea Holdau form LARS consult GmbH - Gesellschaft für Planung und Projektentwicklung for managing the procurement process, and mayor Doris Baumgartl and the jury chaired by Prof. Matthias Loebermann for supporting the values of the project.

📣Throwback Tuesday (2/2)📣

Building homes on roofs... but how? We developed interventions concepts based on the typology of existing buildings. More precisely, who is the owner. Owner-occupiers, associations of owners, housing corporations, they are all different with different needs to thrive in the city. The proposals look and feel different as they perform differently within their socio-economic context.

"The recent housing protests show that the increasing demand for housing is slowly reaching a boiling point. But how can we accommodate more homes within the existing urban fabric with room for inclusiveness, sustainability and flexibility?(...)"

Last year, we released our provocation to Rotterdam. Urban development and densification can be done while preserving existing communities. We propose to use existing roofs to provide opportunities for newcoming citizens to find affordable homes. Meanwhile, for existing communities it is an opportunity to transition their homes towards sustainable futures. Affordable homes on roofs to finance urban retrofit!

Het daklandschap is namelijk bij uitstek geschikt voor de verdichtingsopgave van Rotterdam. Joep Klabbers, Yvonne Rijpers en Superworld deden er onderzoek naar en vertellen over de ontstaansgeschiedenis én noodzaak van hun ‘Superrrrrdam!-penthouses for the people’ kaart van het Rotterdamse daklandschap.
