Het werk van Borstlap ontwikkeld zich rondom zijn overkoepelend project: ‘ The Entity of ZOON’, een zelf verzonnen mythologie. Gedreven door utopische verlangens gaat hij een relatie aan tussen realiteit en fantasie. Door op speelse wijze te reflecteren aan religies, hegemonie en sociale structuren, ontstaat er een kader waaraan hij zijn zoektocht naar de implementatie van zijn verlangens symbolis

eert en refereert. Het zogenaamde ‘ZOON-figuur' staat centraal in deze mythologie. Het fungeert als een zelf refererend symbool waarmee betekenissen veranderen of nieuwe ontstaan. Borstlap's 'scheppingen' zijn zeer gedetailleerd en met uiterste precisie uitgevoerd. Zij vinden hun oorsprong in diverse disciplines waaronder keramiek, tekenkunst, architectuur, installaties en performance-kunst. English
The work of Borstlap develops itself around its umbrella project 'The Entity or ZOON', a mythology fabricated by himself. Driven by a Utopian desire, he enters a relationship between reality and fantasy. Reflecting playfully on religion, hegemony and social structures, a framework is created on which he symbolizes and references his quest for the implementation of his desires. The so-called 'ZOON' is the central figure in this mythology. It acts as a self-referencing symbol by which meanings change or new ones emerge. Borstlap’s creations are very detailed and executed with fine precision. They find their roots in various disciplines including ceramics, drawing, architecture, installations and performance art.
