September starts with a new project in The Hague.

This week, construction begins on the full renovation of a 250 m², three-storey corner house dating from the late 1920s.

Located in the Bloemenbuurt, the house forms part of a characteristic pre-war neighbourhood whose street plan and urban design were influenced by architect Hendrik Berlage. The area combines several architectural styles, including the Hague School.

Renovating such a house means understanding which qualities should be preserved and where the layout, functionality and comfort need to evolve.

Over the coming months, we will share the process, offering a closer look at our work as interior architects and how we guide international clients through a full-home renovation in the Netherlands.

What does every well-designed home need?

This begins long before choosing furniture, colours or decorative objects. A home needs a good layout that supports everyday life, lighting that adapts to different moments and storage that is considered from the beginning.

Warm, natural materials add tactility, while considered transitions and high quality finishes bring everything together.

Styling can add personality, but the foundation of a good home is how naturally it works, feels and supports the people living there.

Which of these qualities would make the biggest difference in your home?

Planning a renovation or interior project?

From October, we are welcoming new residential and small-business projects, including substantial renovations and complete interior designs.

A thoughtful design process takes time. From understanding the space and developing the concept to refining materials, details and technical decisions, each stage deserves careful attention.

If you are thinking about renovating in 2027, now is a good moment to begin the conversation. Starting early gives us the space to develop a considered design and prepare everything before the work begins.

A study in colour and materials, inspired by Greece.

For a recent project in Arnhem, we developed a colour and material study inspired by summers in Greece. The distinctive light of the islands, warm earthy colours and natural materials.

For the bathroom in particular, we wanted to capture the welcoming atmosphere of Greek island hospitality. Stone, warm natural tones and rich textures create the relaxed sense of ‘barefoot luxury’ associated with a boutique stay on the islands.

The result is not a literal interpretation of Greek design, but a translation of its atmosphere: warm, natural, effortless and inviting.

Inspiration often begins while travelling, visiting places and experiencing how natural elements, materials and spaces make us feel.

Summer inspiration from Marseille: Unité d’Habitation, also known as La Cité Radieuse, by Le Corbusier.

An architectural dream destination that Katerina wanted to visit since her time at the School of Architecture.

Built between 1947 and 1952, Unité d’Habitation was the first in a series of five housing projects by Le Corbusier. It introduced his vision of a ‘vertical garden city’: a place where inhabitants could live, shop, play and come together within a single building.

Its 337 apartments of eight different types (A-H) were combined with internal streets, shops and shared facilities, while the rooftop became a communal space for recreation, education and gathering. One of the most interesting and significant aspects of Unité d’Habitation is the spatial design of its residential units.

More than 70 years later, the building still feels radical. Its balance between private and collective life, raw concrete, strong colours and unique approach to proportion make it feel both timeless and ahead of its time.

A true masterpiece and an inspiring reminder of how architecture can have a profound impact on the way we live and connect.

In a compact kitchen, every centimetre matters.

For our Baarsjesweg project, we designed a fully custom kitchen to maximise storage, worktop space and improving the flow.

The worktop extends into the corner beneath the window. On the opposite side, a custom cabinet combines storage and extra worktop space without blocking the space.

Rounded edges improve the flow through the compact space, while minimal handles keep the design calm and refined. Light, textured plywood brings warmth and a contemporary character. The blue adds freshness and personality.

This level of precision is what a fully custom kitchen makes possible: every element is considered in relation to the space and the people using it.

Almost ready: our Laan van Noi project in The Hague.

Inside this characterful three-storey house, with its generous proportions and high ceilings, we have been working on a transformation designed around the needs of an international family.

The project includes two complete bathroom renovations: one for the adults on the first floor and a second for their two girls on the floor above. Both spaces have their own character, brought together through a fresh, modern approach, a light colour palette and carefully detailed custom furniture.

Our work also extended beyond the bathrooms. We selected colours for the entire house and created the interior design for the living room and dining area, ensuring that the different spaces feel connected as one considered home.

Swipe through for a look at the construction process and the first finished details.

We will share the full result soon.

Moodboards for our Muiden project.

For this full house interior design project the clients’ brief was to create a colourful, clean and timeless family home that feels light and uplifting, while still calm, simple and functional.

For the lower floor, the focus was active and engaging: a space for family dinners, casual hosting, playtime, light work and reading.

For the upper floor, the mood shifted completely. This became the private, low-stimulation zone of the home: personal, meditative and designed for rest and unwinding.

The moodboards helped translate these different rhythms into a clear interior direction, balancing colour, calm, functionality and long-term adaptability for a growing family.
