I like going for walks in February. Maybe that sounds weird considering the weather (it's gray and raining).

But just in February, right on the doorstep, I'm greeted by the sweet-smelling Sarcococca humilis, and in the passing gardens, Viburnum ×bodnantense and Hamamelis charm me with their amazing, strong scent.

An autumn visit to the Ogród Botaniczny PAN w Powsinie - Botanical Garden in Powsin Warsaw is a colorful pleasure. Trees and shrubs sparkle with autumn colors. Warm shades of red, orange, and yellow begin to dominate.
And the berries of Hippophae rhamnoides, known as Sea Buckthorn, contrast beautifully with the silver-gray leaves.

It is worth taking a closer look at this plant because its fruits are natural, miniature pharmacies:
- they contain 2 to 4 times more vitamin C than blackcurrant,
- they also contain a number of anti-oxidants,
- they are a source of unsaturated omega-3, omega-6, omega-7, and omega-9 fatty acids.
- fruit extract, used as an addition to creams and other body care preparations, improves the appearance of the skin, delays its aging, reduces wrinkles, reduces discoloration, moisturizes, and rejuvenates.

If you were to create a fragrance garden, what plants would you plant in it?🌱🌱

Fragrances affect our well-being, level of concentration, and may even affect our dreams. The more beautiful the fragrances surround us in the evening, the more beautiful we dream at night. Maybe that's why evening stock (Matthiola incana) smells only in the evening?

In my fragrance garden there would appear:
Robinia psedoacacia, Tilia, Rosa rugosa, Osmanthus burkwoodii, Viburnum burkwoodii, Syringa, Sarcococca confusa, Lonicera caprifolium, Convallaria majalis... and many others 😄

❓Riddle - what do seeds of Callistemon (bottlebrush) need to germinate?

One time I spoke to my Italian friend about our favorite plants. Roberto said: "Callistemon. I love it and you will love it too😍". He was right😉. A flower pot with Callistemon joined the other 56 on the terrace. And every day I admire the red flowers that someone used to clean gold bottles.

Callistemon needs a sunny place, regular watering, and removing the shed blossomed flowers. For winter, store it in a room with a temperature above zero.

This weekend I was peeping sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides), peeking under the leaves 🤭... And I found the difference between male and female plants!

On female plants I spotted tiny berries, and on male ones few small, yellow flowers. In autumn, the girls will look extraordinary with their flashy orange berries.

By the way, do you know that seabuckthorn berries are a natural pharmacy?
🍒 they contain a lot of vitamin C which increases our immunity,
🍒 anti-oxidants to delay aging and protect against civilization diseases
🍒 the fruit extract added to cosmetics reduces wrinkles, moisturizes, and rejuvenates.

Seabuckthorn can grow virtually anywhere, on the sand, on dunes and embankments, in the city, and in the garden.

Continuation of the story about Cornus kousa (I published the first episode last week).
Flowers🌸🌸 of this dogwood are not the only catchy elements. Look at the fruits🍇🍇!

They appear at the end of summer and attract attention as well as the flowers do. They picturesquely hang on long peduncles and look like strawberries🍓🍓.
