Environment

For over two decades Van Ruysdael believes in the right to live in an appealing and healthy living environment – not only for today’s generation, but also for future generations. In keeping with this, we invest in our cultural heritage, our environment and our well-being, all which are of inestimable importance.

We pursue this goal by developing products and transferring knowledge, maximising the number of people who can enjoy the benefits of a secure, appealing and healthy environment.

Heritage & Energy

International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) has published a new European directive on heritage buildings and energy efficiency, and its conclusions align closely with what Van Ruysdael glas / verre / glass / vetro / ガラス has practised for more than twenty-five years.

The directive affirms that passive, reversible interventions consistently outperform technology-led renovations and that regular, attentive maintenance can reduce a building’s energy consumption by as much as 40%. The knowledge to do this well already exists; what is missing, more often than not, is the willingness to apply it.

This thinking is not isolated. It is being actively explored how Van Ruysdael can contribute to this emerging European framework.

has been curating the world’s most thoughtfully considered independent hotels since the year 2000, and their annual Design Awards have always stood apart from the industry’s usual celebration of scale. Instead, they recognise the projects where every decision, from material and light to proportion, has been made with genuine intention and care.

This year, we are proud to share that the , one of ’s projects, has been named Best New Hotel Design 2026, a recognition that reflects the depth of thought that went into every aspect of the work.

Spotlight

At the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, the light of Claude Monet lives on. Softly filtered daylight moves through the galleries, touching each work with nuance and depth. An environment where light is not a backdrop, but an essence, present in every space.

Clarity, security and timeless originality form the foundation of window restorations in museums throughout Europe.

The ultimate balance

The pursuit of environmental friendliness is reflected in Van Ruysdael’s minimalism. It performs more than just insulation value.Van Ruysdael makes additional ventilation techniques unnecessary and minimizes maintenance for your windows. This saves material, reduces costs, and creates a healthier indoor climate. The ecological footprint of the entire lifecycle is minimized.

With time I started to understand that preserving originality is not about forcing unwanted materials into the building. It is about listening. Listening to the context, the material, the function. Letting things speak. Letting things be. Like Kahn once said: don’t force things to be what they are not - WT

Light is everything

Light is the starting point of all things. It is forever in motion, shaped by far more than just the sun and the clouds. Light guides, connects, and warms.

Our aim is to highlight the importance of natural daylight, and in 2025 we were able to achieve this together with you. For that, we are truly grateful.

Wishing you a wonderful and beautifully bright Christmas.

Roy d’Espagne, Brussels.
Preserving the sashes on this very known place, the Grand Place, feels fitting: full of history, full of stories, and the sashes are quiet witnesses to it all.

Windows reflect the past, and here it’s a peculiar sight: sashes in Belgium, a country with a completely different window culture than we have in the Netherlands.

Nothing rivals an original sash.
, where the original sash, a century old, performs flawlessly in the present day. No tweaks, no upgrades. Just pure, enduring craft. 🚀

Savvy, born of slow-grown Oregon pine and artisan hands, these windows carry a depth and elegance that can’t be imitated. Restore them, run a hand along their weighted grace, and you’ll see: true longevity isn’t manufactured. It’s crafted, and it never goes out of style.
