Gjenvinner du de brukte husholdningsbatteriene dine? Og hvordan oppbevarer du dem hjemme frem til du leverer dem inn?

Oppfinner René Depuis og selskapet Whtif har nylig fått patent på en brannsikker boks med teip-dispenser som skal gjøre det tryggere å oppbevare de brukte batteriene før man leverer dem inn til gjenvinning.

Teip-dispenseren og klistremerkene er en viktig del av oppfinnelsen. Å dekke til batteripolene minsker sannsynligheten for varmgang og brann.

Siden 2022 har det vært minst 160 husbranner hvor batteri som ikke har vært tilkoblet har vært årsak, og ca 85 % av alle branner i gjennvinningsbransjen skyldes batterier.

Målet med oppfinnelsen er både trygg lagring, men også at folk blir bevisste på at batterier skal gjenvinnes og ikke bare kastes i søpla.

– Det viktigste man kan gjøre er å bygge gode vaner for trygg og god batterigjenvinning. Det arbeidet må starte hjemme, sier Depuis.

Meeting the fire departments in Norway.

Whtif was invited to the Norwegian Fire Departments convention at Gardermoen on the 24th. of April 2024, to present the Batterybox.

The topic was "safe at home" and the reception the Batterybox got was great. We got a lot of positive feedback and even some new ideas!

Working in the fire department, the firefirefighters are of course aware of the risks that stray batteries can cause and also shared some of their experience.

A big thank you to Østli TV for taking pictures and filming at the event.
