How to create a cozy place?
Let's turn to the two most cozy styles: Provence and Scandinavian hugge.
What good are these styles? Why are they considered the canon of comfort in the interior world? ⠀
▪️A great abundance of textiles: tablecloths, pillows, blankets, textured furniture upholstery, carpets, skins on the floor.
▪️Wood texture. We take a tree and emphasize its texture: somewhere sanded, somewhere multi-colored, so that a pattern of calmly ashen shades can be seen. It tells us about history, comfort and creates warmth.
▪️ Decor. Personal items, such as family photo wall or memorable nice souvenirs brought from trips. It may also be just your favorite decor. We put it in a plain sight, improve the space and make it more individual and cozier.
▪️Color. Let it be different shades or color spots. We can see the difference if we put a light-colored sofa and the same one, but a dusty maroon or gray-blue. Of course, the dark, cozy, calm color is much more pleasant to look at. It attracts so much that you want to climb there and get comfortable under a blanket on a day off.
▪️Furniture. It can be minimalistic, but voluminous and comfortable to look at. For example, American furniture corresponds to the Russian concept of comfort and coziness. Large poofs and beds, huge sofas which are so nice to sit on.
I believe that a sofa is a house within a house. It must be chosen almost as carefully as the house itself, and meet all the requirements for the comfort of your life.
▪️Lighting. Let's make more light at face level: bras and floor lamps. Add cozy light at the lower level — table lamps, candles.
▪️Home clothes should also be comfortable and match to the interior. Our workshop designers select pajamas, bathrobes and slippers for our beloved clients 😌❤️

How to make your home unique?

We want our home to be special and the furnishing reflect our lifestyle ❤️ Today I will tell you what you should pay attention to make it so.

✔️ Layout
It should be adapted to the needs of a particular person or family. We always take into account two life scenarios: everyday and festive one. Answer the questions:

Do you cook breakfast at home or buy coffee at the coffee shop nearby?
Do you prefer family gathering or when everyone doing their own things?
How do you celebrate significant events: at home or in restaurants, cook on your own or order food?
Do you need a spacious children room for your guests?

The more details you give, the easier it will be to create the perfect layout and highlight the main area.

If you have many guests, the living room will most likely be your main area.
If your house is mostly your own fortress, the main one will be your personal zone - a bedroom, a dressing room, an office or a master bathroom.
A spacious kitchen with the smell of morning coffee will be the most important part of close family’s home.

✔️ Color range
I always choose carefully the color palette for my clients’ houses. Some like bright and catchy combinations, others — muted beige-nude shades. Everyone has their own comfortable range.

✔️ Art objects, decor
For example, a luxurious vase with a fancy ornament at the entrance expresses the owner very well.
For some people, textiles is the main decor element of their home. Then the whole design goes into curtains, furniture upholstery, pillows, etc.
My favorite technique is a wall decor. Paintings, woven or sculpted canvases, bas-reliefs… I believe such elements make the interior really exclusive 😌

✔️ Home clothes.⠀
Bathrobes, slippers, aprons, pajamas. Didn't expect this, did you? 😉 Yes, I pick up all these home things for my customers! When clothes fits the interior, its owner feels very cozy.

I often use visual techniques to expand the space, now even more intuitively than intentionally.

I love airy, large and light rooms. Today I want to share with you few tricks helping visually increase the space:

1️⃣ Mirror walls or large mirrors. Use them when you want something to disappear from the interior or to expand it in some narrow place. It immediately adds to the air of spaciousness and light.

2️⃣ If there are panoramic windows, it’s important not to close them. I always try to decorate it, leaving as much window light as possible.

3️⃣ Lighting. I like to use multi-level lighting in interiors: evening, daytime, dimmable, LED backlight. Architectural and linear light can create any geometry. It looks delicate and elegant in the evening. I also love solid light fills, when large light planes are highlighted, increasing the space.

4️⃣ Floor coverings. The oblique angle layout, including the herringbone visually pushes the walls apart.

5️⃣ Large-format materials in the interior. I love tiles with a maximum size of 60x60 or 40x120. Large slides of stone and textured plaster with a discreet pattern also expand the space. I like to glue large windows from moldings on the walls and create small accents on the large background. The contrast of sizes creates huge halls in apartments and houses.

6️⃣ Color contrasts. They must be in space if we want to visually increase it. Thin and dark or saturated elements should make contrast with very voluminous light shades.

The picture is our project.
More secrets of space will be told in our webinar on May 31st. Registration in account.
