🌸 Welcome to the renewed Einar Gerhardsens plass! 🌸
The public square in the new Government Quarter is becoming part of Oslo’s everyday life again. Here, you can sit down with a coffee, enjoy the spring sun under blooming cherry trees, and take in the art and architecture around you.

The Fishermen by Picasso and Grass Root Square by Do Ho Suh have found their new home here — woven into the square, reminding us that it is people who shape our society.

Planen for NRKs hovedkontor er klar!
Nå sendes planen for NRKs nye hovedkontor på Normannsløkka til politisk behandling. Plan- og bygningsetaten anbefaler planforslaget.

Dermed er byggestart for det nye NRK-huset på Ensjø et langt steg nærmere. Nordic Office of Architecture og Rodeo arkitekter har jobbet med planforslaget på vegne av NRK siden 2022.

«Vi er stolte av planen som nå sendes over til Rådhuset. Målet har vært å utvikle et mediehus i verdensklasse, men også få NRK Normannsløkka til å styrke Oslo øst og nabolaget rundt. Stor skryt til PBE og deres saksbehandlere for et svært vellykket samarbeid», sier Henning Sunde, kreativ leder i Rodeo arkitekter.

«Dette har vært et givende prosjekt, med tett samarbeid mellom NRK, Rodeo og resten av prosjekteringsteamet. Vi har vært opptatt av å utvikle løsninger som ivaretar NRKs behov som mediehus og bygger videre på stedets bymessige potensial», sier prosjektleder og partner Erik Urheim i Nordic Office of Architecture.

Det er ventet at planforslaget for nytt NRK-hus behandles i Rådhuset før sommeren. Planlagt byggestart til høsten og innflytting i nytt kringkastingshus i 2030.

Congratulations to Fotballklubben Bodø/Glimt on a historic night in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the knockout stage after an extraordinary victory over Inter Milan!

We are especially excited for what lies ahead: in a few years, the team will welcome supporters into a new home arena designed by Nordic Office of Architecture — a stadium built to match the club’s ambition and energy.

This year’s Christmas card celebrates what unites us: great (gingerbread) architecture, our Scandinavian roots, and the nature that inspires our work. The gingerbread house was baked and photographed by our creative colleague in Iceland, Sarah Lucy Tritschler.

Mother Earth in the Heart of Oslo!
Rising 51 metres, AAhkA by Sámi-Finnish artist Outi Pieski is a celebration of Sámi history, culture and duodji. The significant art piece now marks the entrance to the new A-Block in the Government Quarter.

During a recent preview hosted by Statsbygg and KORO - Kunst i offentlige rom / Public Art Norway, the Minister of Culture and Equality, Lubna Jaffery, was visibly impressed by the monumental 700 m² artwork. Architect Fredrik Haukeland offered insights into the complexity of the soaring pyramid-shaped room and how art and architecture are woven seamlessly together in the building’s vision.

When the new district at Hammersborg opens to the public, we look forward to sharing the Government Quarter as a cultural enrichment for Oslo’s residents and visitors.
