Cabin in Høvåg

This family had outgrown their original cabin.
While the site offered incredible views and atmosphere, the old building no longer supported time together across three generations.
Instead of extending, they chose to rebuild — with a new cabin carefully placed between the rocks and shaped by the terrain.
You enter on the upper floor, where the living room, kitchen and terrace open up to the sea.
The lower floor holds bedrooms and bathrooms, partly sunken into the terrain — with direct access to the surrounding landscape.
The architecture doesn’t force itself onto the site — it follows it. Volumes are gently placed between rock formations and vegetation.
Steps and paths wind up from the boathouse, through the terrain, to the entrance — connecting every part of the site with rhythm and restraint.
Now, three generations can gather, relax and retreat — in a cabin made for them, and for this place.

Familien hadde vokst ut av den opprinnelige hytta.
Selv om tomta hadde fantastisk utsikt og atmosfære, ga den gamle bygningen ikke lenger rom for tre generasjoner å samles.
I stedet for å bygge på, valgte de å rive og bygge nytt – med en hytte bedre tilpasset både terreng og behov.
Man kommer inn i øverste etasje, der stue, kjøkken og en romslig terrasse åpner seg mot sjøen.
Etasjen under ligger delvis nedsenket i terrenget og rommer bad og soverom – med direkte utgang til landskapet.
Arkitekturen presser seg ikke på – den følger tomta. Volumene er lagt inn mellom fjell og vegetasjon, med trapper og stier som slynger seg fra sjøen og opp til inngangen.
Alt henger sammen – både ute og inne, i høyde og retning.
Nå samles tre generasjoner her – for å slappe av, trekke seg tilbake, og være til stede.
I en hytte laget for dem – og for nettopp dette stedet.
