धरानको पहिलो फल्चा धरान उपमहानगरपालिकाका प्रमुख हर्क साम्पाङ राईद्वारा उद्घाटन गरियो। चन्द्रपुर डबली नाम दिइएको यो फल्चा धरान–३ मा अवस्थित छ। धरान जेसिजले आफ्नो ५०औँ वार्षिकोत्सवको अवसरमा समुदायलाई उपहारस्वरूप यो संरचना निर्माण गरेको हो।
काठमाडौं उपत्यकाका परम्परागत फल्चाबाट प्रेरणा लिइए पनि, चन्द्रपुर डबलीलाई यसको प्रयोजन र स्थानगत चुनौतीहरूलाई ध्यानमा राखी केही डिजाइन सुधार तथा परिमार्जन गर्नुपरेको थियो। उपत्यकाका फल्चाहरू सामान्यतया विश्राम स्थलका रूपमा प्रयोग हुने गरे पनि, चन्द्रपुर डबलीलाई मञ्च, आराम गर्ने स्थान तथा स्थानीय तथा सामुदायिक कार्यक्रम सञ्चालन गर्ने बहुउद्देश्यीय स्थानका रूपमा विकास गरिएको छ। यस प्रयोजनले अगाडिको भागमा काठका स्तम्भहरूको संख्या न्यूनतम राख्नुपर्ने आवश्यकता उत्पन्न गर्यो, जसले खुलापन र दृश्यता सुनिश्चित गर्छ।
परम्परागत रूपमा प्रयोग हुने काठका सिंगल (shingles) छाना यस स्थानमा रहेका बन्य बाँदरहरूको समस्याका कारण प्रयोग गर्न सम्भव भएन, किनकि त्यसले छानालाई क्षति पुर्याउने जोखिम थियो। त्यसको सट्टा, भित्री संरचनामा मेटल ट्रस प्रयोग गरी माथि ग्याल्भेनाइज्ड शीटको छाना राखियो। साथै, सांस्कृतिक पहिचान कायम राख्न छानाको माथिल्लो भागमा तीनवटा गजुर जडान गर्न मिल्ने गरी छानाको डिजाइन परिमार्जन गरिएको छ। इँटाका पर्खालहरू स्थानीय रूपमा उपलब्ध सामग्री प्रयोग गरी निर्माण गरिएका हुन् भने, काठका स्तम्भ, काठका ब्र्याकेट, फर्श टायल तथा जडानका ढुंगाहरू भक्तपुरबाट ल्याइएका हुन्, जसले परम्परागत शिल्पकला र वास्तुकलाको मौलिकता कायम राख्न मद्दत गरेको छ।
धरानका स्थानीयवासीहरू, धरान जेसिजका वर्तमान तथा पूर्व अध्यक्षहरू, तथा विभिन्न संस्थाका प्रतिष्ठित व्यक्तित्वहरूको आर्थिक सहयोगमा यो परियोजनाको निर्माण कार्य धरान जेसिजले सफलतापूर्वक सम्पन्न गरेको हो। यस परियोजनाको एक हिस्सा बन्न पाएकोमा हामी आभारी छौँ र यस सुन्दर संरचनाको डिजाइन तथा सुपरिवेक्षणको जिम्मेवारी हामीमाथि विश्वासपूर्वक सुम्पिएकोमा धरान जेसिजप्रति हार्दिक कृतज्ञता व्यक्त गर्दछौँ।

Dharan’s first falcha was inaugurated by Mayor Harka Sampang Rai and named Chandrapur Dabali. Located in Dharan Ward No. 3, the structure was built by Dharan Jaycees as a gift to the community in celebration of the organization’s 50th anniversary.
Inspired by the traditional falchas of the Kathmandu Valley, Chandrapur Dabali underwent several design improvisations to address its intended functions and site-specific challenges. Unlike the valley falchas, which are primarily used as resting spaces, Chandrapur Dabali functions more as a public stage—serving as a relaxation area as well as a venue for local and communal events. This functional requirement led to minimizing the number of wooden posts along the front façade to ensure openness and visibility.
Traditional shingle roofing, commonly seen in Kathmandu Valley falchas, could not be adopted due to the site’s issue with wild monkeys, which posed a risk of damaging such roofing. Instead, galvanized sheets were used, supported by a metal truss system beneath. The roof design was further modified to accommodate three gajurs at the top, maintaining its cultural symbolism. While the brick walls were constructed using locally sourced materials, key architectural elements such as wooden posts, wooden brackets, floor tiles, and fixing stones were brought from Bhaktapur, preserving the craftsmanship and traditional detailing associated with historic falcha construction.
With financial support from the people of Dharan, present and past presidents of Dharan Jaycees, and dignitaries from various organizations, Dharan Jaycees successfully carried out the construction of this project.
