On April 12, 2026, as part of our CPD program, we had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Nipun Prabhakar for an engaging and thought-provoking session. The session highlighted the poetics and politics of the quotidian, emphasizing the importance of context, participation, and ethical engagement in both design and documentation practices.

With experience collaborating with leading global publications and academic institutions, he offered valuable reflections that broadened our understanding of narrative, space, and cultural representation.

On behalf of everyone present, we extend our sincere gratitude for the time and for sharing such inspiring knowledge and work with us.

At first there was nothing-
no names, no corners,
only a wide-held breath of dust
and the patient exhale of wind.

The ground did not expect footsteps. Silence lay flat, uninterrupted,
a blank page that even time had not yet dared to crease.

Then came the line-
not a border, not a promise,
but a moving thought of iron,
a question laid gently across the land.

With transit came pause.
A platform rose like a sentence break.
People arrived carrying hours in their pockets,
faces folded with elsewhere.

Shops grew out of waiting.
Light learned to stay up late.
Voices stitched the air where only wind had spoken before.

The place gained a pulse-
not sudden, not loud,
but steady as departures,
as faithful as returns.

Now maps pretend it was always here.
Children argue about shortcuts.
The wind has learned new words.

But if you stand between arrivals,
hen the last echo settles,
you can still hear the first silence

An established voice in the field, his extensive writings on urban development and urban water management provided a comprehensive backdrop to the discussion. Complementing his broader research is his acclaimed Nepali book, Hiti System: Past Present and Future , a Madan Puraskar-listed work that offers a deep dive into the Kathmandu Valley's traditional water infrastructure. Through his scholarly reflections, the session underscored the vital importance of understanding and preserving traditional ecological knowledge to inform resilient urban futures.
