The salvias are ready for cutting! After an initial trim in Autumn we left some length on the stems as a sacrificial frost protector, which in turn protects the fresh new growth coming through.

We had some heavy frost in the last two weeks, whilst covered, the salvias really took a hit!

Thankfully the new shoots were well protected by the longer lengths, but it was time to cut it all back.

For a winning plant combo!
These colours and textures were absolutely popping this week, the muehlenbekia is getting some great form with the odd trim, the liguleria is snail free and slug bait free, with a little lift at the undergrowth. The phormium tenax is most likely dark delight. With the Nikau giving height, all of these colours, textures and forms really sing next to each other.
