Working Bee #2 is in the books!

A big thank you for everyone who turned up despite the weather to help us with our second working bee laying the foundations of the new site.

Also a thank you to those of you who have been helping to collect and dropped off cardboard for us. We don't need any further donations at this stage.

How good is the new site looking? 😍

We still have more work to do though. Join us for our next working bee on Saturday June 27th 10am.

Help! ISO Cardboard!

We are on the hunt for more cardboard for this weekends working bee - we are ideally after large sheets (think large appliance boxes (fridges, freezers, etc...), bike boxes, etc...).

If you work somewhere or have access to some cardboard which we could have (we will collect) today or tomorrow please DM or email [email protected].

Thank you!!!

What an incredible start for our new community garden!

Our very first working bee was a huge success, with 39 amazing volunteers coming together to help bring this space to life. The amount of work achieved in just one day was truly inspiring — from spreading mulch and laying cardboard, to clearing weeds and setting up fencing, we are off to a great start.

A massive thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy, tools, and enthusiasm. Community projects like this only happen because people show up, and wow did our community show up!

We’d also like to give a special shoutout to our generous sponsors who helped make the day possible:

🌿 Mulch supplied by:
-A Team Trees Limited
-Eli from Auckland Tree Works
-Olli from All Trees
-Tree Action

📦 Cardboard supplied by:
-Electrolux New Zealand - a big thank you to Ian and Hannah in particular!
-Weta Coffee (Wētā Coffee)
-Magness Benrow
-Onehunga Community Recycling Centre (Onehunga Community Recycling Centre)

🌭 Additional support/materials from:
-Pak N’Save Royal Oak for the sausage sizzle
-Te Papapa Sports Club for their BBQ (Te Papapa Onehunga Rugby & Sports Club )
-Onehunga Community Recycling Center for the temporary fencing (Onehunga Community Recycling Centre)

We’re so excited to see this garden grow into a shared space for connection, learning, food, and community. This is only the beginning!

We have another working bee on Saturday June 6th at 10am - please come down and join us again!

Tomorrow is the day!

We'd love to have you come and help us during the working bee. We kick off at 10am at the new garden space off the Namata Road entrance to the park

If anyone has any old cardboard boxes or large sheets they want to get rid of, please bring them along as we have a large area to cover! Likewise if you have any forks, spades, buckets, or gloves feel free to bring them as the main goal of the day will be moving mulch throughout the site.

We are so excited to start working in our space. Come be a part of something amazing and watch the space (and eventually the veggies) grow!

4 sleeps until our working bee!

We are so excited to start working in our new space but we need your help!

Come join us for our first working bee laying cardboard and mulch to build the foundation on our new site this Saturday May 9th at 10am-12:30pm. Even if you can't make the whole event, feel free to come join us for any part. We will have a sausage sizzle on for all our volunteers.

If you have any garden gloves/forks/spades/buckets/wheelbarrows you're welcome to bring these along as we can always use spares.

If you're driving there is off street parking on Namata Road or on Olea Road by Ferguson Hall or the rugby club. See the map below for reference.

We hope to see you then!
