A series of concept sketches coming together for a project currently in development.
The client brief was simple and direct: more shelter. After several years in this contemporary hilltop home, the exposure and persistent winds had limited how the outdoor spaces could be used and enjoyed.
Our response is a more grounded, integrated relationship between house and landscape. A sunken courtyard, accessed from multiple points, creates a protected microclimate and a flexible, multi-use entertaining space — drawing the architecture down into the terrain.
A gabled loggia with retractable screens extends northward, strengthening the connection to the outlook while providing reliable shelter to the courtyard and cedar hot tub.
