Box is known for design-and-build: the Architect Builder model, where our design team and construction team collaborate from day one. That joined-up approach keeps ideas buildable, budgets grounded, and decision-making clear between designer and builder.

What’s less widely known is that we also deliver a meaningful number of design-only projects. Often those projects become a Box build. Sometimes owners choose to tender or work with a preferred builder. Either way, the reason they come to Box is consistent: architectural design with build intelligence baked in.

It wasn’t long before the shortcomings of this 1964 design became apparent. Stuck inside during lockdowns, the family had to walk through the main bedroom to access the garden. It was also draughty, with no insulation. An unsympathetic renovation completed in the 1990s failed to highlight the original features.

Originally designed by Warrick & Wright in the 1960s, this home was entrusted to Box™ for a significant renovation that would bring it in line with contemporary living. The distinctive exterior form and building line were carefully retained to respect the home’s original modernist character, while the interior was completely reconfigured.

Despite its vertiginous and challenging 765 m² section, this two-level home makes the most of every angle. From the street, its compact design draws the eye. Black Weathertex against a green backdrop give it low-key presence, but the jaunty carport roofline makes an instant impression.

This Box™ home takes the form of an elongated rectangle with a singular gable. The clients wanted to look straight through from one side of the house to the other so they could enjoy the view wherever they were sitting
