Last week, we took a visit to some of our projects currently underway with Stonex Homes. This included checking in on our Tiny Home designs as they enter the final stages of development, along with a stop at two of our projects in Clevedon.

A standout feature in one of these homes is the scissor truss design - one of our favourite ways to introduce natural light, create a sense of height and add architectural interest to the living space.

We can't wait to see these projects come to life in their finished form. They're definitely going to be showstoppers.

A very happy 26th birthday to our Ruby! 🎂🦄

As the youngest member of the team, it was only fitting that we went all out with a unicorn-themed celebration complete with cake, decorations, plenty of laughs and a team lunch at Master Kong.

We're grateful for the creativity, positivity and energy Ruby brings to the office every day.

At Mia Casa we pride ourselves on producing high quality designs and documentation. The latter part of that relates to preparation of technical drawings – these being the drawings that help to communicate to council, builders, and contractors how the building goes together.

Our documentation service includes coordinating with consultants (geotechnical / structural / environmental engineers…) to integrate the necessary building elements into the design and taking a project right through the consenting process ready for construction to commence.

We believe that a new home should be well considered for how all of its parts work together, and we ensure that our drawings communicate the thought we have put into them to ease understanding of the building for all parties involved.

Step inside one of our recent Multi-Unit Development projects and take a closer look at the spaces, details and design approach that brought it all together.

This week we would like to showcase a recent multi-unit development project of ours. The design brief sought to add two new homes to a section behind the existing home. Situated in eastern suburban Auckland, the property has a large backyard with generally flat gradient, offering a prime canvas to develop.

These new homes demonstrate the ability to provide variety in aesthetics, while utilising efficiency in design; the two homes share the same floor plans and built forms, while exploring a different colour and material configuration. All claddings utilised are face fixed weatherboards, which offers the ability to mix and match what orientation and weatherboard width are used where.

The spatial organisation of these homes has the primary, open plan living space on the lower level, connecting out to the private outdoor living space. Variety can also been seen here, with different kitchen layouts explored. Double garaging and guest bedroom are also located on lower level. Master and secondary bedrooms occupy the upper level, with an open living space also at the top of the stairs.

Last week we said a bittersweet farewell to Nadia as she begins an exciting new chapter with her family, welcoming their second baby boy.

We want to thank Nadia for the wonderful year she’s spent with us. Her contribution, care and gentle presence in the office have been hugely appreciated and she will be greatly missed by the team. While we’re sad to see her leave MCA, we’re so happy for her as she steps into this next chapter with her growing family.

Wishing Nadia and her family all the very best for this special time - we can’t wait to meet baby boy!

A very special milestone took place in the office last week - Edward celebrated 8 years with Mia Casa!

Over the years, Edward has played a huge role in shaping the direction of the office through his leadership, passion for design and commitment to creating thoughtful spaces and strong client relationships. Anyone who knows Edward knows just how special he is and we feel incredibly fortunate to have him as part of the team.
