Bremner Ridge.

The setting of this home can be described as where suburbia meets the countryside, creating a suburban-rural blend. When tasked with designing a home for a client with a growing family and predominantly functional needs, the theme for this house became evident.

Drawing primary inspiration from New Zealand’s rural cottages, the design balances practicality with the beauty of New Zealand’s natural environment whilst being modern.

As you approach, the house’s modest, simple, and familiar rectilinear and gabled form immediately stands out. The exterior’s palette of dark, natural tones allows the home to harmonize with its beautifully landscaped and elevated site.

Ascending the steps feels like stepping onto a porch that leads into sheltered spaces, gradually unveiling a serene outdoor area, enclosed by dark metallic fencing intricately engraved with the iconic native "Silver Fern." Once inside, a sense of comfort and homecoming is unmistakable.

Based in Dairy flat we have one of our prized projects. We call this the Postman Tea House.

This project is one of many that exemplifies the seamless fusion of traditional and modern design elements. It features dark-stained vertical shiplap cedar, offering a natural, earthy appeal, paired with durable Metalcraft T-rib roofing for a sleek, refined finish.

Inspired by Japanese Zen philosophy, the tea house reflects simplicity, tranquility, and seclusion. Its design invites those within to embrace a quiet, meditative state, nurturing a deep connection with nature and inner peace.

At the heart of the project is a boxed tea house, elegantly linked to a timber pavilion by a carefully crafted timber bridge. This bridge functions as both a physical connection and a symbolic passage, enriching the spatial narrative. The structures are set amidst lush specimen trees, offering a tranquil view of the expansive surrounding farmland.
