Wake Robin

Wake Robin Unusual or hard to source perennials and bulbs. Woodland plants are always popular with my customers. I also have many lines of plants for sunny areas.

Amongst these are Salvias, Dictamnus, Scabiosas, Geranium, Veronicas, Geums, Hostas, Gypsophilas.

I have not been on my page for the nursery so much lately, sorry. It has been pretty quiet and i have quite a lot of time doing other things. However it is getting a bit busier now which is great, not that our weather has helped! There are plenty of options to buy lots of great summer flowering perennials and some bulbs, mainly Bluebells and Muscaris. I will put a few photos on here - please contact me for more information. The first one is Salvia turkestanica Vatican Pink - very popular right now and stunning (garden photo).

It's been awhile since I posted anything here sorry. It's been a very unusual spring with the weather - the storm was horrible for our area and southland. We lost most of the shadehouse roof and the neighbours glass from her glasshouse was covering about 10 sq metres at our place. It was fun picking it all out of the rhododendrons and plant area. I am still finding some. My downsizing is going very well and I have had quite a few different specials - this will continue. If you are interested in buying my nursery stock please let me know. I will post some photos next

Hi everyone. Well it's been pretty full on with my downsizing and specials. I have gaps in the nursery now! It's still a good time to try and purchase plants before some of my more unusual lines sell out and will not be replaced. A great opportunity for someone to set themselves up for the future too with plants that are not readily available in NZ. A few photos to follow. Happy gardening for spring!

Spring has sprung and it's been the usual cold weather that August seems to bring. However, customers are very keen to buy over the last 6 weeks and it's a great time fill some gaps in the garden. I am down-sizing or selling all of the nursery stock, whichever comes first. I have great sales for September but would prefer pick up unless it's a large order. I have $7 specials, Aquilegias reduced to $8 and most $12 perennials are $10 - only for September. I am running out of many lines of perennials and not replacing a lot of them. Many of my lines are not readily available in NZ so best to be in fast if you want something special.

It's been so cold here the last few weeks and some hard frosts. Although sales have slowed down a bit lately, it's always a great time for planning and sitting in a warmer place. A few interesting photos to follow - perhaps ideas for later on.

Its nearly autumn but May has been quite settled and mild. The odd cooler morning for sure but overall we had better weather than earlier on!. It's always a good time to plant in autumn and get plants established before spring. They will suffer less stress. Many of my plants are dormant in winter but well checked before they go out the gate. A few have been hanging onto some flowers right up to now. See following photos.

Hi and it's hard to believe it's nearly winter. I have been away twice this year, once to Tasmania and Adelaide and to Hamilton and Taupo. Both great trips and some photos to follow. Adelaide gardens was lovely and the Chihuly display (from blown glass) was well worth a look.

Wow, May already and nearly half a year gone. I have been away and just been to Hamilton Gardens which was great to see. They have been good customers of mine in the past. There are not so many flowering plants in the nursery now and it's nearly the end of the 'pretty' season. Of course, lots of our plants are dormant in winter. The Salvias are holding their own nicely and will keep going until we get some good frosts. I leave the old stems on them over winter as the birds love to feed on the seeds. Then i cut them back in spring. A few photos of what is still looking good. Please visit by arrangement, if possible.

At long last after quite a few years, I have Geranium armenum 'Red Propellors' for sale again. Its expensive and they are in 9 cm pots. An amazing botanic miracle. The deep pink/red flowers resemble slightly folded, "propeller" blades. Happy in partial shade where it will scramble up through rhododendrons even. Suitable for sun or light shade. Winter dormant.
