A “before & progress” post, using a photo taken on site today of our latest classroom upgrade. We are excited to be using Floc wall coverings. A one hundred percent wool, and NZ made product, the colour and feel is already making a great impact on the space, which is being transformed from cluttered to calm with a functional flow.

In January, new legislation made it possible for homeowners to build a new small, standalone second dwelling “granny flat” without building or resource consent, provided certain criteria are met.
While the pathway may be simpler, careful design and expert guidance remain essential.

We are excited to be working with the Pine Valley Outdoor Centre on updating one of their cottages to become accessible. The centre is a wonderful community asset, allowing local school children and the wider community to experience and enjoy camping and activities in the outdoors. These accessible changes will mean even more people can enjoy the opportunities the centre provides. We'll post more photos as the project progresses.

A thoughtfully considered retreat, designed to sit in harmony with its rugged Mackenzie Country environment. Using natural schist, stained timber, and floor-to-ceiling glass, the triangular design frames uninterrupted mountain views whilst reflecting the surrounding landscape. Two ensuite bedrooms and open-plan living offer a sense of space, calm, and connection to place — a quiet, rustic escape that celebrates simplicity and form.

Our Rarangi renovation is nearing completion. These progress photos, taken by foreman Darin from Rob Blick Building, showcase the upgraded bach amid the action-packed works. The exterior of the sprawling beachside property has been completely reimagined in collaboration with landscape architect Kaara Wight, who helped redefine the driveway, orchard, and beachfront approach, along with the addition of basketball and pickleball courts. The results are remarkable, and we look forward to sharing the final images soon!

Our latest design is a very personal and artistic concept, dreamed up by a local client who plans to hold concerts, corporate events and weddings on her rural property. In a lavish garden setting, this gazebo will provide a romantic shelter which beckons from the orchard beyond the house, and will be approached via a lane of cherry blossom trees.

Its unique form is to be built from steel, faced with decorative mouldings, and adorned with concrete baluster, ponds and a reticulated lion head water feature.

The interior and exterior finishes are coming together at our Mahakipawa Arm House.

Inside, Tasmanian Oak floorboards are paired with American White Ash wall panelling, creating a light but rich base. Deep cobalt blue soft-touch cabinetry will be complemented by a pale toned compressed porcelain benchtop and splashback, finished with crisp white light fittings and brushed nickel hardware. In the bathrooms, fluted travertine wall tiles mixed with textured white floor tiles and vanity top sit alongside warm grey composite stone basins and bath.

Externally, dark profiled wall cladding is softened by stained thermally treated timber accents—including soffits and window shrouds.
