🌿 New Glass Crusher Installed as Part of Club Sustainability Drive

We’re excited to announce the installation of a new Expleco Limited glass crusher at the club, reinforcing our commitment to reducing waste and improving sustainable practices on-site.

The machine transforms used glass bottles from our bar and clubhouse operations into a fine, sand-like material. This innovative solution means that instead of sending glass to landfill or relying on external recycling collections, we can now process and repurpose it right here at the club.

The sustainability benefits include:

Significantly reducing glass waste sent to landfill

Lowering carbon emissions by cutting down on the need for glass collection and transport

Producing a versatile, reusable material that can be utilised for pathways, landscaping, ditch maintenance, and other course improvement projects

This investment supports our ongoing goal to make the club more environmentally responsible and reduce our overall environmental footprint. The introduction of the Expleco crusher is another great example of how small, practical changes can make a meaningful difference.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on both the club and our excellent course.

TURKS & CAICOS TESTIMONIAL
By - Nichoy Bent Sustainability Manager COMO Parrot Cay

At COMO Parrot Cay, sustainability is integral to our identity. As a remote island resort, we face unique challenges in managing waste sustainably.

Thanks to our partnership with Expleco, we’ve transformed one of our most persistent waste streams—glass—into a resource that supports both
environmental stewardship and local development.

We currently operate the Expleco GLS2.0 glass crusher alongside a specialized glass sorter/grading machine. The GLS2.0 allows us to crush one bottle at a time, providing a controlled, efficient process with minimal disruption to our operations. Once crushed, the material is passed through our grading system, which separates it into four distinct sizes—ranging from silt-like particles to small pebbles—ideal for various construction
applications. The system also includes a fifth output that collects label waste, enabling even more effective waste stream management.

This crushed glass aggregate is now a key component in many of our in-house concrete mixes, replacing imported sand and reducing our environmental footprint. It’s been used in:

1. The foundation of our Sustainability Center, a symbol of our commitment to regenerative practices.
2. The creation of paving stones, including those made during waste education workshops with local schools.
3. The construction of drains and small containment berms around the property.
4. Various other infrastructure projects led by our Engineering Department.

In 2023, we crushed 2,713 kg of glass. In 2024, that figure rose to 4,999 kg, and by mid-2025 we have already processed 9,094 kg. These numbers speak to the success and scalability of this initiative.

We’re now collaborating with our Engineering team and Private Estates to explore wider applications for this material across the island. Glass has become our preferred packaging material over plastic and aluminum—largely because it is the only waste stream we can completely manage and repurpose locally, without needing to ship anything off-island.

Expleco’s technology has empowered us to take control of our waste and convert it into a sustainable asset. It’s a prime example of circular economy thinking in action—helping us build a more resilient future, one bottle at a time.

St Bathans, an old gold mining town in New Zealand, and with a population these days of only seven (or five) it is often referred to as a ghost town. Home to one of New Zealand's oldest pubs 'The Vulcan Hotel' that is now the proud owner of a GLS2.0 glass bottle crusher and possibly the most efficient turn key per capita glass waste solution in the country. We are looking forward to stopping in on our next trip South. 🍾

Update in from Motiti Island. It is great to see a positive impact in a remote community with limited access to waste and recycling solutions.

"I have found the glass sand to be extremely good. Normally grass on a track will die down and not grow back. Since using the glass sand with its mulch properties it has allowed for the grass to slowly grow back.

What I have noticed is the new grass grow through the glass sand, resulting in a stronger foundation.

The sinking effects in the areas with glass sand have stopped and the grass continues to grow with daily driving of the track.

This is a big game changer for us on the island as so many tracks have taken there effects on the land." - Krystlle Cosgrove
