If any Businesses or organizations are interested Paper4Trees is looking for a sponsor for the Marlborough schools and preschools trees. The previous sponsor for the last several years decided to not fund the Marlborough Schools last year which is a real shame because the kids love getting their trees.
Paper4trees is a recycling program where the schools record how much cardboard and paper they recycled ♻️ in return each school gets at least 5 trees but more depending on how much they recycled.
Paper4trees is A programme run by Environmental Education for Resource Sustainability Trust. Wild about Natives has been supplying the Marlborough regions Paper4trees for the last 9 years.

Wild about Natives has now been selling our Natives at the Redwood market for 20 years. To celebrate the next 2 weekends 13th & 20th we will have a market special all Tree ferns / pongas $20 each.

Metrosideros diffusa "Small White Rata" is starting to flower for 2025 and the bumblebees' are loving it. It has a bit of a pink tinge to the flower buds and flowers on the old wood unlike its cousins M. perforata which flowers on the new wood and is pure white. We have both available $12 each including Gst. Plant them in the sun for more of a Shrubs. If you have a shady spot they'll want to climb to get to the sun or plenty of light which will make them start to flower and go from their juvenile phase to adult. Michaela will have them both at the Redwood market Saturday mornings in the Tavern Carpark.

Wild about Natives, Native Plant Nursery is at the Redwood market tomorrow morning. We have a big range of ferns in stock at the moment like this creek fern in the picture. Plus NZ iris are flowering (picture 2) at the moment these are Libertia mooreae native to Marlborough and very bottom of the north island. They like a good free draining soil.

The Native tree Fuchsia is flowering at the moment. They are a great tree to attract Tui and Bellbirds. The flowers provide nectar in spring and berries in summer. The flowers also have blue pollen which the birds distribute on their heads. Its best planted in a spot thats damp and doesnt get too much afternoon summer sun. We'll have them and our other natives at the Redwood market tomorrow.

Its been a busy last few weeks at Wild about Natives, native plant nursery. We've supplied the 2nd stage of the Blue hole restoration with Natives . We've been working with the local land owners Kiwirail and Pateke farms (Kerry and Ivan ) , and with the team from Te Atiawa who helped put in the Mahi to get it planted. We also had pupils and teachers planting from Waikawa bay and QCC with a school planting day last Wednesday and a 2nd day for Whanu last Saturday.
Wild about Natives planned and layed out the plants to try to make it look as natural as possible. With the plants eco sourced from the valley they should be right at home.

Fern planting season is just starting with the spring growth kicking in. Wild about Natives, Native Plant Nursery has the biggest range of locally grown ferns in Marlborough at wholesale prices. Come check us out on Saturday mornings at the Redwood market on Cleghorn street in the Tavern car park 8 till noon. We'll also have a range of Native trees , shrubs and groundcovers.

No Wild about Natives, Native Plant Nursery this weekend at the Redwood market in Blenheim . With the weather and road closures we won't be there. But we'll be back next week with a big range of Natives ready for winter planting.

Check out this Silver fern ponga we came across while seed collecting Yesterday. Where the animals have been rubbing shows the true thickness of the actual true trunk . The rest of the thickness above is made from the old bits of frond stalks.
We'll have 5 species of tree fern available on Saturday at the Redwood market plus epiphyte ferns like the Sickle spleenwort growing at the top of the trunk. We'll also have our range of ground ferns plus our native trees and Shrubs.
