ain office being based in Christchurch - Canterbury, we also have an additional office in Whangamata on the Coromandel Peninsula in the North Island. We are currently a team of 6, with a culturally diverse background, including team members from Germany, Korea, Scotland & NZ. Our practice is a member of the New Zealand Green Building Council and we also have 3 Greenstar Accredited Professionals, as well as a Homestar Assessor on our team. A day away from the office last week was kicked off on site at one of our current new builds. It was great to see the cedar cladding going on and watch the project start to take shape, completely changing the feel of the place.

From there, we swapped construction for creativity and headed to pottery. Confidence was high, skill levels varied, and there were definitely a few interesting creations along the way. A big thank you to Ruff Shuffler Ceramics for guiding us through the process.

We wrapped up the day at the restaurant at Novotel Christchurch Airport, watching planes come and go while what looked suspiciously like a robot from WALL-E the movie delivered our drinks.

A great day out of the office filled with teamwork, creativity, and a chance to connect away from our desks.

Last week the team joined forces with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and Hilti New Zealand in Christchurch’s Red Zone, planting native mānuka along the Ōtākaro River at Snell Place 🌿

Every visit back reminds us how powerful long-term restoration can be, and that our responsibility to the environment extends far beyond architecture.
