This design was inspired by the Spring flowers that grow in my garden each year. I didn't plant them, the previous owner of our house did. Each year they bring colour and brightness to our garden from the end of the cold Winter.

The design comes in two colours, blue and purple, and is shown here on greeting cards, hardcover journals and spiral notebooks.

Painting the motifs is just the beginning. After scanning them into my computer I have to remove the background and then separate them into their own individual layers so I can then move them freely around to create a surface pattern design.

This design is my entry into the current Spoonflower Design Challenge, Chintz Reimagined. Click the link below to see all the beautiful artist created designs. While you are enjoying them please place your vote on my design when you see it, thanks.

Making this alternating flax and toi toi pattern on the computer. The basic shapes for the flax and toi toi came from drawings I did at our local wetlands of those plants.

Fabric and products featuring this pattern are available on Spoonflower spoonflower.com/profiles/dogwood_design and Red Bubble dogwooddesign.redbubble.com

The inspiration for this pattern was a planting of c***s comb flowers near a set of traffic lights I passed through while riding my bike during Autumn.

Both the original pattern, with the reds and yellows and the neutal coloured pattern can be found in Spoonflower and on Bubble by clicking these links

Wavey line patterns from my sketchbook painted using different tints of the same four colours. The four dark colours at the top of the first one, just below the very top paler purple, are the four colours I started with. Everything else on both pages is as painted using just these four colours with varying amounts of water added.

A friend gave me some Jerusalem artichokes to grow and these beautiful flowers grew at the top of the plants. So I did two different watercolour paintings of the Jerusalem artichoke flowers.

Here I arranged the two flowers into the repeat pattern design and added a background colour. At the end you can see the design on some clothes. These items are available in my Red Bubble shop. Click this link tob shop dogwooddesign.redbubble.com
