So proud of YouthHub CHCH winning best Health Project at this years NZ Commercial Project Awards. Mīharo! 🥳 🎉

🥳 We're thrilled to share that Youth Hub Christchurch has won the best health project at New Zealand Commercial Project Awards!

Main building contractor Naylor Love Canterbury entered the awards with project partners Field studio of architecture + urbanism (Architect/Designer) and One Four (Project Manager).

The Judges’ comments describe the building as an extraordinary achievement towards social change.

“Stage one of the development brought together offices, consultation rooms, recreational areas, and supported housing for vulnerable youth. Designed with input from a group of young people, the space upholds cultural relevance, safety, and accessibility. From a construction standpoint, this was a highly challenging project. The team expertly navigated a dense urban site with significant geotechnical constraints, and a tight budget. The judges were particularly impressed with the collaboration demonstrated by the Youth Hub Trust, local community, stakeholders, and the design and construction teams.”

We hope you had a good time at Open Christchurch this year! Our team loved showcasing the Youth Hub and Ōtākaro Orchard projects in progress, and opening the doors of Te Ora Hou to the public. Our weekend highlights included: Roots & Routes of Pacific Architecture talk by Professor Albert Refiti, exploring the Court Theatre construction, visiting the Erskine building, and hearing from youth voices during 'New Foundations'. Big thanks to everyone who joined us and to the amazing Te Pūtahi Centre for Architecture and City Making team for organising!

Our vision

We believe in work that contributes positively to wider society. We are committed to this place, it’s people, and our belief in demonstrating and working towards social and built development in our city. Through our past experience we have nurtured our ability to assess situations with critical thinking, open-mindedness and sensitivity. We foster the ability to translate and articulate values, intentions and problem solving into peopled spaces and built form.

We have learnt the value and significance of nurturing projects at an organisational and people level, and that this is a crucial factor for longevity, sustainability and success. This awareness and experience helps us in our architectural work to better understand and then articulate the client’s intentions through built-form that resonates with the required purposes, values and user experience. We are familiar working with trusts and on projects that have social and values-based charters.
