The Otago University accommodation project in Dunedin last year, wasn’t just about landscaping—it was about shaping a space where student life can thrive. Southbase brought us on to transform the outdoor areas into a place that encourages community, connection, and well-being. From courtside hangs to chill-out zones, we helped create a setting where students can study hard, relax well, and make memories in between.

Our team delivered the full package—exposed and coloured concrete, timber-topped retaining walls, paving, fencing, irrigation, raised planters, a basketball court, and more. With smart, durable design and a focus on flow and functionality, we built an environment that feels just as good as it looks. At Glenavon School last year, we redesigned the bike track to slow speeds in busy zones—making it safer and more enjoyable for students. Alongside it, we created a flexible outdoor space that connects with classrooms, offering year-round opportunities for learning, play, and connection.

Delivered in a live school environment, the project included bike track works, timber retaining and seating, garden prep, planting, and drainage. A thoughtful, functional space now supports both movement and learning every day.

Another significant project for Outerspace team and satisfied clients - and we only imagine students must be loving their new space! Well done to the Outerspace team.

FOOD HALL, QUEENSTOWN

OuterSpace was proud to deliver the full external landscaping for the vibrant new Food Hall in the heart of Frankton.

This exciting project featured a range of standout elements—including a large in-situ fireplace, intricately detailed curved concrete walls, bespoke natural stone paving in striking patterns, and custom-designed street furniture for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Our team approached every element with precision and care, ensuring the final result was nothing short of exceptional.

We're thrilled to have been part of such a dynamic space for the Queenstown community.

🗻Riverside Residences in Wanaka - Design and Build 🗻

This project comprised 43 townhouses, each with its own backyard as well as shared common spaces.

Our Landscape Architect completely redesigned the outdoor areas, incorporating resource consent documentation that included signage, footpaths, access and parking, and lighting locations.

Being in charge of the full landscape construction, it was crucial that we stayed organised and maintained a detailed schedule. Despite working through the challenging winter conditions, our team expertly navigated the climate while ensuring all timelines were met and the project was completed in full.

🌿 Designing with Purpose | Building with Heart 💚

Rebuilt after the earthquakes, this special project was all about honouring cultural narratives and creating outdoor spaces that reflect the heart of the school.

Danielle our Landscape Architect, worked closely with the school to truly understand their vision, weaving play into every corner. From custom tuna basket seats to a abstract braided river bike track and paths flowing through the turf - every detail was thoughtfully crafted by our OuterSpace team.

We’re proud to have both designed and built this unique space, and we hope the tamariki (and teachers!) are still loving their outdoor spaces. 🌿💚

Stage 1 ✅

We’ve just wrapped up the first stage of this exciting 3-stage townhouse development for Mike Greer Homes at Galbraith Street!

Our team delivered soft landscaping, a mix of custom fencing styles, decorative chip, and bespoke timber bench seating — all designed to elevate the outdoor living experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed working alongside a great team on-site, and we’re looking forward to bringing the next stages to life!

We loved working alongside Mike Greer Developments on this awesome Harewood project 🌱

Our team completed all the soft landscaping and a range of custom hardscape features — from fencing to bin storage and bike sheds.

Huge shoutout to everyone involved in bringing this space to life. It's still looking just as stunning today — we love seeing our projects flourish over time!
