Something different this morning!

When Wood & Thomson Engineering enquired about some repair work in Lyttelton early this morning, we said "yep, sure!"

What awaited us was certainly outside of the norm, however; meet the Antarctic Aurora, pride of the Australian Longline fleet. Usually at home plying her trade in the Southern Ocean, she is currently berthed in Lyttelton for service work.

A bit of cutting, trimming and reinstatement of some tiles, and we were on our way. Some days are certainly different than others!

One more new home build with the Crowe Bros. treatment!

This one in Ravenswood features a classic tiled floor with skirts, bath surround and splashbacks in the bathroom, a timeless white subway splashback and decorative benchtop border in the kitchen, with a tiled floor and shower putting the finishing touch on the ensuite.

Nothing out of the ordinary with this job, but a satisfying end result.

A lot of grout, sweat and tears went into this glass mosaic splashback.
..Just one (relatively small) feature of a new build that we recently put the finishing touches on.

We would show you the rest, but we'll wait until the other trades have come in and done their thing.

It's Friday, so time for an update. What have the Crowe Bros been up to? If you guessed tiling, you'd be correct! 😛

Seriously though, this week has been a good wrap-up kind of week, with three substantial jobs completed this week, alone!

This is one of those jobs, a full house professional reno in the heart of Rangiora. We initially went in to do just a couple bathrooms and a kitchen splashback, but when the client worked out that they could also tile the kitchen and laundry floors for less than the price of vinyl, we said "sweet as!"

Certainly a fun job, working alongside some of our favourite tradies, as well.

As a rule of thumb, we'll usually only post photos of completed work.

But a finished job doesn't always tell the full story.

As a lot of people probably know, waterproofing (or "tanking") is a requirement in wet areas, in line with the building code.

Here at Team Crowe Tiling, we are accredited installers of the Mapei Aquadefence Waterproofing System. So you can have peace of mind in knowing that when we install a shower, it's going to be watertight.

And for us, coming home with blue dots on our hands and clothing is just a small price to pay.

We're kicking off the new year by posting details of a job from last year... Someone forgot to get pics 🙄
..the brief from our repeat client involved tiled floors and a shower, plus skirt trims in not just the main bathroom, but also the master ensuite. Of course, the Crowe Bros were up to the task!

We started with two coats of water-proofing applied to local council regulations, before going to town on the tiles from our friends at Dakota Tiles, and finishing it with Mapei Kerapoxy grout to add that next level of wet area protection.

Safe to say this job was a hit!

Here's a quick splashback... literally!
From tiles on the wall to grout and silicone, there's less than 120 minutes work in this one over the past 24 hours!

Our client supplied these neat ripple edge half-subways, and we did the rest. Just to be different, we went with a vertical stack.
We think it's cool and the client is happy. Good result all round.

Another week, another big job ticked off the list ✅️

Where do we start on this one? From underfloor heating kits to waterproofing to tiles to grout and silicone, this work on a remodel in Harewood was a labour of love!

For the ensuite, it was full floor to ceiling wall tiling, working in around a unique sloped ceiling. The LED backlit full-width niche in the shower, and sloping shower floor are just two cool features incorporated into the job.

In the main bathroom, it was a more conventional Floor and Skirt trim setup, with a nice splashback behind the bath.

Once the other tradies have come in and done their thing, our clients are going to have a bathroom and ensuite to love!

So we mentioned big jobs in our last post... yep, you may be forgiven for thinking that all we do is splashbacks and the occasional paving job. Sure we do a lot of them, too. But it's the big jobs we really love.

Here's a new build we've recently wrapped up in Loburn. Not just big, but 𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘤...

Work included, but not limited to:
● A couple shower tray forms ✅️
● A few square meters of waterproofing ✅️
● Bathroom underfloor heating installation and floor levelling (x2) ✅️
● A nice bath Splashback ✅️
● Tiled Floors ✅️
● Floor to Ceiling wall tiling covering Every. Single. Wall. of the ensuite ✅️
● A really neat Feature wall in the aforementioned ensuite ✅️
● A large format tiled Splashback in the Kitchen ✅️..and probably a few things we've forgotten, too.

All tiles supplied by our friends at Dakota Tiles, as well as grout, silicone and other consumable materials from Mapei.
..and to put the cherry on top, we even installed the laminate plank flooring from the front door to the lounge.

A few hours, and a few trips in this one!
