Elsie Evans in the distance, seen from the front of the old Moss estate.
Percy Moss lived here around 1900 to 1964 after taking over from his dad, Edward Moss who ran the first Portobello to Port Chalmers ferry being the Kate.
Percy was a Master Mariner and Director of the Peninsular ferry company.
He owned the Elsie Evans from 1938-1944
The shed on the right foreground was called the bungalow and infront of that was a blacksmiths shop. The section still holds a comarding view of the teminus and bay.

The year is 2010 and the refit is underway at the Wickliffe Press building in Albany Steet, Dunedin.
The picture shows Drew Bryant and the police vehicle weighing team measure the weight for survey documentation and location of waterline for hull.
Using the same scales as they use to weigh trucks.
