The old Lismore farm house where Grandad was born that great grandad (William) and uncle Charlie built. where Alexander Barrie Mann and Margaret Ann Mann lived ( on another part of the farm) Grandads cousins lived here also, on and off. Evidently, Alexander B M had a brother who came out to NZ, also named William Mann, who died suddenly somewhere on the property. He was buried at naseby. Their parents in Scotland were Charles Mann and F***y Barrie he was a bootmaker and there is a photo of even charleses mother Betsy Mann neé Low going way war way back... A B Mann brought to nz farming skills he learned in Scotland and was successful and dedicated to what he did. According to a local farmer and avid historian the farm (centercreek?) Was given to him by Mr Preston who he worked for for some yeas after his arrival in 1886. A B Mann was sucessful well read man who's kind consideration towards children was remembered after he died - and he died all the way up in kaikohe! With 2wo of his sons on the farm He was on an extensive traveling jaunt and fell ill on his way back home after reaching Russell in the bay of islands he did like it there. He had heart complaints at the time. Presumably Margaret his wife, stayed home in kyeburn looking after grandads older half-sister Elsie

A curious 15 year old ended up creating the longest grand piano in the world after asking a simple question. Inside a piano, the bass strings are wrapped with copper wire to deepen the sound without needing more length. A young pianist named Adrian asked his piano teacher, "without using copper wire, how long would the bass strings need to be to hit the right notes?" His teacher had no idea, so Adrian decided to figure it out himself. He purchased some piano wire and strung it up in his backyard. It was around 22 feet and the sound was amazing. Inspired by the incredible sound quality, the next step was to build a huge piano to hold the length of the wire and keep the amazing sound. Over the next 5 years, he came across difficulties that required a lot of problem-solving and dedication. But finally, his hard work paid off and his piano was complete. The Alexander Piano is 18ft 9 inches, weighing over a metric ton and is the world’s largest single keyboard grand piano.
