David Roache is the managing director of the company which has grown from small beginnings in the mid-1950s. At that time, David Roache’s father, having sold out his interests in a timber sawmill, set up a small business in Foxton making a

nd marketing concrete products on his own account. The early products were concrete fence posts, strainers and concrete tanks. In 1971, David and his wife Pauline bought the business and registered it as a limited liability company under the name of Roache’s Concrete Products Limited. Under the expertise of David Roache, the company continued to flourish and is still focused on supplying high quality concrete products to the local dairy industry. In 1994, Roaches Concrete Products Limited had expanded its business to the extent that new premises were needed urgently. The company moved to a new site on State Highway 1 at Foxton. This address had more room for further expansion and David used this room immediately by installing an overhead gantry crane. The new site was a cornerstone in the Roache plan to expand into bigger and more complex concrete products for the lower North Island rural industry. His son Dean Roache, who has been involved for 22 years and his son-in-law Kurt Jackson who has eight years of service both specialize as top of the range Site Managers. David’s sister Francis has handled the complex office administration for the past 28 years with David’s daughter Amanda having also joined the team. David Roache says, “The company has enjoyed a good relationship with the rural sector, based on quality products, competitive pricing and personal service. These are the founding principles of the company are a testament to the continued repeat business that Roaches Concrete Products Ltd receives, with some clients having roaches build their cowsheds thru three generations on family owned farms. Roache’s Concrete Products Limited built their first rotary cowshed for Murray & Ruth Johnston of Danniverke in 1972. In 1999 that 16 bail was upgraded to a 40 bail.
