Solar energy

Dad has built a palace for the whānau which has great resources for off grid living. The panels inverter and batteries are high initial cost but he is able to run lots of technology in the house when the kids come to stay.

Good to see few people I stalling and he has helped them set up their systems.

He is in a good sunny spot where the panels can capture sun all day if not cloudy.

What tips do you have for solar living and do you use lithium batteries?

Weekend at papa's and got the kids to help with some planting and tidying up. Trying to add more colour and beneficial insect plants as well as trying to disguise water tank and help soak up the excess water from tank and heavy rains.

What do you use to disguise tanks and soak up water. He is on clay soil

So so sad about the devastation on the east coast over this last week. The amount of rain and unpredictable weather is becoming more and more common for us in this region.

Spent the morning gardening with my permaculture friend and wedding in her huge garden patch. We wet
Re trying to figure out if her scarlet runner beans were been eaten and why her cucumbers suddenly died? We trialing a mounding technique to see if that works better.

Mums garden needed a tidy up. Pulled the celery and old parsley out and too many self seeded amaranth. Swapped self seeded swan plants into the flower bed.

Also planted heaps of cos lettuce in the shady parts of garden under zucchini leaves and at bottoms of tomatoes so they have some shade.

Cut back lots of flowers today and owner hoping for a 2nd flush. We dropped seed everywhere so new plants come up.........

Taken awhile but this garden is filling up. Grannies bonnets are self seeding everywhere and dahlias bushing out. Always battling with oxalis though, so satisfying pulling bulbs out.

Gerberas have recovered and looking better as well as the hellabores now they have right amounts of water.

Always trying to condition this sandy soil as well

Bit cooler today for gardening.....Tawhirimatea supposed to get strong. Lots of weeding and dropping mulch to refeed ground or use as a mulch in our drying weather.

Lots of native seedlings popping up in this garden and self seeded Hollyhocks. Dahlias galore in this garden, such a giving plant.

Your garden is amazing Toni Sadlier. Can tell you have green fingers and an artist:)
