At Woven Architects we design projects of all scales. At the smaller end of scale is this Pukete Bathroom Extension.

The existing bathroom was small and outdated. By infilling an area between the existing garage and front entrance we we able to increase the width of the bathroom by 1.6m. This allowed the bathroom to be modernized and an additional bath added.

Externally the extension is matched to the existing house, and you would never know there was an addition.

Have an area of your house you think could be utilized better? Get in touch, we would love to discuss options with you:

This existing house is is located on a great semi rural section in Tamahere, but what it was missing was outdoor living space. We worked with the Clients to design a large canopy extension complete with outdoor fireplace, decking, retractable sun shades and large slider doors. The result is a sheltered outdoor living space with can be enjoyed year round.

While we were at it, we designed a 2m extension to the house to provide a more generous living space and increase the size of one of the bedrooms. A separate canopy was added to form a marked entrance to the house. The result looks fantastic!

Unbuilt country residence.

We designed this stylish country residence a few years ago. We got it though the Building Consent process, but unfortunately it didn't make it to construction.

Hey features of the design included:
-Natural exterior colour palette.
-Large north facing deck with covered and screened outdoor living area.
-Twin main gable roof forms linked by a low pitched gable roof.
-The outdoor area screen matches the spacings of the battens on the solid gable ends, visually tying them together.
-Full height glazing and raking ceilings over the main living and covered outdoor living areas.
-Feature chimney.

If you're thinking of building your own country residence, we would love to help you through the journey.

New Blog! Do you ever drive through a modern suburb and think every house looks the same? And think you could be anywhere in NZ, Australia or even America? This is what happens when a site's context, history and natural features aren't considered. Read our latest blog to see how we can be doing it better.

Great to see these client photographs of one of our recently completed house alterations in Hamilton. The brief called to remove an unused existing chimney and open up the existing kitchen & dining space, including relocating the kitchen. A large existing bedroom was reduced to a more standard size, to give more space to the living areas. And finally, the existing Lounge was walled off to make it a more useable space. The result looks fantastic!

Our role included deciding exactly what existing structural elements could and couldn't be reused, or relocated, to keep the build cost as low as it could be.

Client review:
"We did a renovation on a 1930s home in Hamilton. Woven Architecture Hamilton helped us value engineered options to reduce costs. Woven was able to finalising design requirements before they submitted documentation to council for BC.

Even with my terrible time management of this project, Will from Woven was still able to get documentation through council incredibly fast ( Sorry Will) 😅

Over all Woven Architects Hamilton was a pleaser to work with, timely, polite and one of the best value for money items throughout our renovation."
