Not all rose pests are above ground! Some of the biggest troublemakers can be hiding beneath the soil. 🌱

Cicada nymphs & grass grubs feed around the roots of roses. Heavy feeding can damage the root system, affecting the rose’s ability to take up water and nutrients; resulting in weak growth, yellowing leaves, wilting and fewer blooms.

🌿 OUR TIP is NEEM BARK • We mix Neem Bark into the soil around the roots, helping create a less welcoming environment for unwanted soil pests.

🌹 Once a rose graft has successfully taken and the new bud is growing well, we cut the top of the understock away above the graft.

This is an important step in giving the new rose variety the best chance to take over and grow strongly. ✂️🌱

Hundreds of roses… and we’ve finally finished pruning in both our Rose Test Gardens and Picking Garden!✂️🌿

It’s a HUGE job that takes weeks of hard work, but there’s something so satisfying about seeing the gardens freshly pruned, tidy and ready for the season ahead.

Every rose has been carefully pruned, shaped and prepared for a spectacular spring and summer of growth and blooms. 🌹✨

Now comes the exciting part… watching all those little buds burst into life! 🌱🌸

We can’t wait to see what this season brings from our collection of roses we are testing. ❤️

🌹 Tie your roses down like a pro!

A few simple tricks can make all the difference when training roses along a fence or structure.

✨ Pre-cut and place your ties before you start; it makes the job so much quicker.
🧦 Use stockings as soft, flexible ties that won’t damage your rose stems.
🌹 Watch your contact points - use your tie to protect your rose rubbing against the fence
🤍 Tie gently, not tightly; you want to support the rose while still allowing room for growth.
