🚨 Storm Alert – Cyclone Vaianu 🌪️

Cyclone Vaianu is currently making its way towards New Zealand and is expected to reach us from Saturday night, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

With conditions like this, the risk of trees becoming unstable or hazardous increases significantly — especially in already weakened or exposed areas.

The extent of what will reach Auckland is not yet clear, but it’s always best to be prepared.

I will have a crew on-call throughout the weekend to respond quickly if needed.

We’re available for:

✔️ Hazardous or leaning trees
✔️ Urgent assessments if you’re concerned about a tree near your home

Just a heads up incase anyone missed it, Sunday we may have some severe wind/rain so if anyone needs a hand with any trees, I'll be around/available most of the day and following days.

We’re keeping a close eye on Cyclone Vaianu as it moves towards New Zealand.

While there is still some uncertainty, MetService New Zealand forecasts suggest it could reach the North Island over the weekend, with possible impacts in our region from Sunday.

Our teams are preparing and will be ready to respond if needed, with essential services continuing to be monitored closely.

It’s a good time to take a few simple steps now while the weather is calm. You can get ready by:

- bringing in or securing outdoor items like bins, furniture and trampolines
- clearing gutters and drains
- checking you have the basics at home: food, water, torches and batteries
- charging phones and devices
- making a simple plan for your household, pets, and farm animals
- checking in on neighbours who might need a hand.

Getting organised early helps everyone feel more prepared if the weather changes.

Jeez so much for monthly updates !! Crazy how fast times gone this year already! Sooo I accidentally may have missed a month already!

So here's a little double update, things got so extremely busy that I also missed a bunch of before... and a few after photos 🤯🤯 but such is life, here's a few pics of what's been going on! It's been busy, but there's been some Cracker jobs with top blokes, great laughs, and of course our great clients keeping us honest for 2 more months!

Into the new financial year, world crisis, April we go! Plenty awesome jobs coming up, some big ones, few nice little ones!

Big job at watties this week, lifting the canopy on these massive heritage pin oak trees

After some big lateral limbs failing in the last month or 2, the trees at watties were in need of a quick overhaul!

35m³ of mulch, and plenty of firewood come down reducing the weight and standing the canopy up once again.

Thought this year I might commit to monthly updates of some of the jobs we have completed at Marty's Tree Services Ltd 🌳

So here we are ! Although it's school holidays, we've had limited spots, but we've kept busy in the days we've had!

From starting off with a couple complete garden/section makeovers, pruning, trimming, removing and even down to splitting the wood, hot hot hot!

To some large gum and pine tree felling in the rain in the rural outback of hawkes bay! Loading us up with plenty of logs to fill some fireplaces next year too!

Back to dismantles in town working in the heat 🥵 although we never love a pheonix palm, you have to say they end up looking quite the centre piece with a good prune!

Thanks to all involved in the hard work, and the clients that have kicked of 2026 with a bang!

Onto February!

We have some very heavy rain combined with wind incoming from this afternoon but especially overnight! If you need to clean your gutters and drains, this morning would be a good time to do so!

For the matter of trees though, I'll be out and about today and will be happy to help out if anyone needs a hand tonight and tomorrow to make sure everyone's safe and accessible.

To begin, a very happy new year to all and hopefully you've had a nice break, but... it's time to get back to work!

Few nice jobs to finish the year off! From Felling gum trees all the way down in dannevirke to topping / felling redwoods in the hills of havelock, to pruning and doing some property maintenance in waimarama! And everywhere in between!

It's been an awesome year, highs and lows, the economy slowed right down and I'm sure everyone could feel the pinch at some point but we've made it to the end of 2025 and hoping next year brings many more trees!

Thanks to everyone that has trusted us with their trees and property, to help start projects, or just to keep the place looking sharp! It's been a journey this year.

Cheers to all the contractors that have helped/worked with me through the year also! Smashed it

Bit of spring time pruning!

Always a nice challenge to bring back a tree shape after a trees been pollarded in the past, and then giving it a reduction, but hey! I think we did alright!

Great time of the year also to clear up driveways and bring some more light in to your property! This driveway was rather tight and the local fire service had advised the clients that their appliances may not make it down the driveway in case of emergency, so a good haircut to achieve both in more light and access was what these olives needed 👌

And a nice little land clearance job removing pheonix palm, and multiple trees covered in ivy, all gone including the stumps ground out ready to put a new fence up and tidy up the pool area!
