That’s a wrap on the season 🌸
We are now closed for orders…
We’ve always dabbled in growing different things on our piece of land, natives, fruit, vegetables, wildflowers, tulips… animals and children too. Last season we trialled a few cut flowers, and this year we committed to growing them properly.
Despite the number of plants we put in, we still underestimated just how many flowers we would get. We chose varieties for the pollinators first, with cut flowers as a by-product. We thought we would keep our work desk, kitchen bench, and bathroom filled with weekly blooms, and maybe have a few bunches to gift to friends and family.
Never did we imagine we would end up supplying flowers for three weddings. Or florals for parties, open homes, birthdays, v-day, new neighbours, I’m-sorry’, anniversaries, grief, and gravesides. The regulars kitchen-table bunches. The new customers. The friends living away who championed all our socials. Even the on-a-whim purchase of a cabinet to store the bloom jars waiting for pickup.
It’s been a season to launch. Did summer even arrive? We swear we blinked and missed the two days of it, between the wind and the rain. But the blooms still bloomed, and the bees still buzzed.
We are officially finished for this flower season. The next little while will be for resetting, resting the garden, and preparing for spring. We’re not looking forward to the cooler weather, but we are excited to start dreaming and planning for next season.
