Better late than never! First climbing comp for the boss

Known to most as Walshy, Chris has been working in trees for 17 years and has seen just about every side of the industry. Despite all that time in the canopy, he’s somehow never jumped into a climbing competition… until now.

Representing Walshy Treework out of Kaiwaka, Walshy has finally decided it’s time to give it a crack. After nearly two decades around the ropes and saws, he’s stepping into Canopy Carnage 2026 to see how his climbing stacks up when the clock is running and the crowd is watching.

Sometimes the best reason to compete is simple: why not?

Well hopefully this was our last callout for 2025. Thanks to Corey Glover for coming in from his break to help the boss get it done 👊 And a big thank you to Mel Torkington for everything she does behind the scenes ❤️ Her role is never appreciated enough!

I've seen many trees growing from old stumps over the years but this Pohutakawa at our clients property in Ti Point is the most impressive example I've ever come across.
